The Cheese
a plan insurance have just charged me £36 to change address with literally the same postcode apparently underwriters have a standard charge of £16 and Aplan wanted £30 extra just to change the address,no extra premium for the Area i have moved to, but they were willing to knock there fee down to £20 wow thanks for that ink must be really expensive in Thatcham, apparently being a member of this club makes no difference Will try some other companies for renewal in may sorry Aplan not good enough
Mark (smokey mow)
It's the price you pay for comparatively cheep insurance. Kit car premiums are incredibly cheep compared to tin tops so the margins are much less for the specialist brokers and insurers. They can't afford to give their time for free in the same way as the mainstream insurers but If you were to pay them the same premium as you do for your tin top then I'm sure they'd be very willing to waive the admin fees. Kingster
To be fair - it's fairly common for an admin fee for any kind of change, as there will always be more to it than simply typing in a line of text. I know that if any of my clients get me to do something that takes maybe seconds, I need to charge a min 30 mins time to take into account the fact that I have to stop what I'm doing, change tack, read the options (or whatever) make the changes, save them, note the time taken for billing, then move on to a new task. It really does all add up!

I challenge you to find any kit car insurer who will quote you the same price and won't charge an admin fee, but good luck finding one at renewal time
Terryathome
Challenge accepted. I can change details like that online and don't cost me a penny with Adrian Flux. Same with Avira.

Andy (Sycho)
Need to do mine this week! but that's still cheaper than the my van. That was £50 with no increase in premium, also had to pay £30 for the tintop they are all at it I'm afraid.
Mole
Adrian Flux were much more expensive than A plan.. plus last policy I had with them they charged for ant change and.. which really annoyed me.. they had a premium rate phone number! I have been pleased with A plan.. But still find it annoying being charged admin fees.. by anyone!
bigals
My last change to my tin top policy was £40 (not with a-plan)just to update my address and move half a mile . But when you look at rent, rates, utility', and wages it's hardly surrising they have to charge . I guess you can always shop around next time. But on the positive they did reduce the charge .
Thrustyjust
When I changed our XC60 for a new one, LV didnt charge a penny for moving the private plate off the old car, they didnt charge a penny for the change of the car and then the change of plate again. Its what made me stay with them. Most insurance companies ( mainstream) do charge an admin fee sadly , even though no ink is really used these days.

Westfield Sports Cars Ltd are a sponsor, and looke what “we” say about them! You’ll find mostly good comments about A Plan, for good reason, but you will find posts about the odd issue too. Just very few. You will find an awful lots of negative posts about Flux on the other hand, along with a few good. And most of those negative posts were made while they were a sponsor, as well. Whether you support the club or not as a sponsor or Trader, is no guarantee of an easy ride. The feedback you will get on the Boardroom is entirely down to what members think of you in their dealings with you.

A plan got greedy even with any discounts so they got the elbow. One of the questions is how much they charge if anything to change details on the policy. Even if I exceed the expected mileage in a year which I expect to pay for but not and repeat not the very high admin fee that these sharks charge you. I always pit insurance companies against each other to get the best deal, it's the way I am.
