Northwarks Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 I feel a new (re)build thread starting and all the fun that brings Quote
Samuraipxi Posted December 18, 2017 Author Posted December 18, 2017 Finally I can update this thread! Life has been doing what it does best, keeping me too busy to do want I really want to. But I have finally been able to get in the garage and get some work done restoring my Dad's pride and joy. I can't tell you how good it feels to have made some much needed progress. My Girlfriend was working nights all last week, so I took advantage of the situation. "Don't worry I'll stay out the house all day so I don't disturb you." In the few hours after work each day I was able to take out the engine and gearbox. Then I took apart the front suspension, what was left of it anyway After that it was windscreen, seats, dashboard, pedals, LPG tank and finally the wiring loom. She's looking sorry for herself at the minute but the light is beginning to get brighter I'll upload some photos later. Thanks for all the encouragement guys. 3 Quote

Alan Cutler (Adge) - Dorset AO Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 Glad to hear you're able to make some progress. Keep up the good work. You'll know your car inside out out by the time you finish. Don't forget to take lots of photos, for that "where does this bit go" moment in the future! And to post on here of course 1 Quote
Popular Post Samuraipxi Posted July 20, 2020 Author Popular Post Posted July 20, 2020 It has been much, much, much too long since I have made any progress on the rebuild of my Dad's beloved Wezzie. I can now however let you all know that the rebuild is 100% underway. I have pennies ( the missus believes ) to not only get it started but hopefully see it finished. With the help of a couple friends and my Dad's friend, whom helped him build it originally we have her fully stripped and of to the chassis shop. Here are some pics of the strip down. My Dad had her running dual fuel with an LPG tank here which was amongst the first to come out. It was certainly very tight in there, so time to get the gearbox decoupled ready to lift the engine. Luckily we have an overhead crane in the shop to help with the heavy lifting With the engine and box free we could move onto the wiring harness and all the interior. With no immediate plans in place for getting the chassis straightened, we decided to leave the rear axle on so that we could wheel round the shop should it be in the way. As you can see the damage to the chassis is quite extensive. Since this picture was taken we have removed the rear end and taken it for repair of which I'm hoping to have some pictures of tonight. Whilst it is away for repair I have been learning what I can from the forum and ordering parts ready for the rebuild. So far I have ordered new wishbones, bushes, fasteners, ball joints and nose cone from Westfield, and I've managed to pick up replacement headlights, brake master cylinder and shocks from Ebay. My next plan is to go down the workshop to clean and organise all the parts I removed ready for installation. I can't say how excited and relieved I am to finally have this underway, despite the lack in progress since my last post, it has always been in the back of my mind itching away my sanity. I hope you all reading and following my progress. See you back on the road soon 😄 10 Quote
Jenko Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 Looks like a great way to carry on your dads legacy. OK, so the chassis is a bit bent, but look at this as acomplete refresh to bring the car up-to-date, and keep it running for many years to come. You could maybe look at doing an almost resto-mod type project.......e.g. go fuel injected which would possibly mean you could loose the lpg. Irrespective...I wish you all the very best, and there is no better way of getting to know a car inside out 🙂 Quote
