corsechris Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 My thought about going to NowTV was to reduce my spend from the current level it is on Sky using an HD Sky+ box. I only have a basic package, no sports or movies but with the HD fee it's still £44 a month. bl**** ridiculous really. Trouble is, we watch quite a bit on the Sky1/Atlantic/Living channels and need to retain the ability to record stuff, so it comes to a simple choice, pay up or shut up. none of the alternative ways seem any cheaper. hey ho, first world problem. corsechris Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Well, looks like it was just brinksmanship then. Happy days.... Quote
Rory's Dad Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Told yer! Sky are bumping up their prices and if the removal of Discovery had actually happened I (and many more as well) would probably have moved on to another provider. Quote

I really need to do something about it. Have therefore decided to drop down to Internet only and have freeview. It would be a real pain to get an aerial to the lounge. The router is right near the TV. Does something exist out there that is a "box" you can connect to the Internet and stream the freeview channels (and ideally have Netflix, but could use the xbox for that)? I pay my TV licence so assume this would be legal? Thanks Just bumping my question up, anyone any further thoughts? Quote
BenD Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 i have now tv for the few sky channels that i did watch for anyone else reading and interested in now tv its pretty good providing the 6 or 8 channels that you get with the entertainment package are what you want to watch. and when its on offer you can get 6 months for nothing when you buy a box and the boxes have just been upgraded. but when i cancelled sky i still have my box and you still get certain channels without a subscription supposedly free view but its not. you can pay a monthly fee to still use the box with the record and pause features and unlock the extra free view channels that you don't get without the subscription. Northwarks Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Debacle has made me think about the £80 (yeah I know ... ) I pay a month ... problem is its crept up slowly and its kind of a given in the house we have Sky, I'm still thinking of quitting after 25years ... Quote
