TAFKARM
I work from home and we are on LPG so our gas bill averages £165 a month :| so I'm trying to avoid putting the heating on. Its not been on at all so far, but the wood burner has been going constantly since last week.. How about you - i bet its still shorts and t shirt weather in the south. Dommo
The sun is still strong enough to warm the brickwork and negate the need for central heating just yet but it can't be that far away
Gerry H
I'm in a similar situation with LPG (but no wood burner only LPG c/h and h/w) and with one or both of us at home daily. I've had LPG for the 20 years I've lived here and been screwed by the big suppliers for most of that time until, I found this thread on Moneysavingexpert: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=1003291&highlight=lpg&page=136#topofpage As soon as my 2 year contract ended I switched to Woldlink in Lincs and my price per litre literally halved from 46ppl to 23ppl. It's currently 22ppl after 18 months. Have a read through the last few pages of that 336 page thread as it could help. I used to be in your situation. I was paying £117/monthly direct debit in 2011 and would put on an extra pullover rather than the heating. Now I don't worry about it. If you'd like to chat, drop me a PM. PS Just checked and Dec 2014 I was paying £142/month DDR

Gerry H
If you still have a problem search for the thread title. Bulk LPG - Cheapest suppliers / supply route? Good luck.
XTR2Turbo
Heating comes on and off when the clocks change . It's not British summer time for nothing ;-)
Man On The Clapham Omnibus
The TRVs on my system were all old and sticky. I had to go around each autumn and remove the sensor capsules and bang the pin with a pin hammer (what else?) to free them up. Having got thoroughly fed up with this I bought ten new Danfoss valves - chosen as direct replacements to avoid pipework alterations - and fitted them all last week. Unbeknown to me the current version is not compatible with the perfectly functional sensor capsules so I had to buy a set of those too. Now that I am c.£300+/- £20 in deficit as it were, (valves, sensors, and Fernox) I don't give a toss if the Good Lady needs the heating on of a morning as the cost pales into insignificance compared with the valve replacements. Yes it is on for an hour in the morning and all evening from six pm. No alternative heating but mains gas so not too dear.
Steve (sdh2903)
Yep since last week up here. And it was me who switched it on!. There normally has to be ice on the kids noses at breakfast before I'll give in and put the heating on, but it's been chilly at night. Last night at work it dropped to 2 degrees. Simon Marks - North Oxfordshire AO
I was out (taking part in the Tour of Kent Scenic Tour) from Saturday lunchtime this weekend. I came home yesterday evening to find the heating roaring away. Back to the shorts and tee shirt for me. Even the cats were sweating! SWMBO stated it was cold at night. Note: a statement, not a point for discussion! At least the attached garage is a refuge at a comfortable temperature so I'll just carry on with general car / Westfield jobs for part of the evenings. dombanks
A little for me but only if it drops below 17 in the house
Mark (smokey mow)
Its been on for over a month now, but thats the downside of living in a house thats 250years old. On the plus side it's only got 6 rooms so the gas bills are still pretty low.
Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative
Had the heater on in the Westfield this morning, it was freezing, does that count?

DamperMan
Well I was told she didn't know how to set the heating timer. And how nice it would be if the heating was to come on at 6 and go off at 7 in the mornings. I know my place and did the deed.. On the plus side I turned the thermostat down on the stairs and know all the valves on the rads will be Jamed solid until I wack them like ever Autumn .
