Thrustyjust Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 I also got a discount card, which I used last night on a few items I never got at the show. After speaking to Westfield and talked about shows and was surprised on how much these 'so called' show organisers charge for displaying and showing business , in time it will all fade away, like Exeter show etc , as no one can afford to pitch a plot to sell. In the same vein it cost me £50 to get my family in the door yesterday, which is just scandalous and although when I get my car built for next year, I obviously wont bring my whole family, as will only have to pay for the passenger, but potential new blood considering building or owning a kitcar may reconsider coming through the turnstile in the future, which then makes the show dwindle further. One of my work clients was there in his Cobra and he saw us on our way to the halls and said dont bother , its not worth it, so not just me thinking this way as well. Would be a shame if Stoneleigh faded in the next few years , from show organiser greed , rather than for the love of kits and cars. Quote
tex Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Maybe it is time that the show organisors moved the show to say a country house estate for example. Big enough spaces, nice surroundings. Theres lots of houses in desperate need of business, who organises the show anyway? Cos from what i saw if westfield stand wasnt there there'd be nowt there! Quote
Captain Colonial Posted May 2, 2016 Author Posted May 2, 2016 These are the organisers and I invite you to send them your flowers and your brickbats: https://www.grosvenorshows.co.uk/index.html https://www.grosvenorshows.co.uk/html/contact_us.html At some point the show will no longer be at Stoneleigh anyway. Those who went to the show in their cars will have gone through the main gates, and in about 10 years from now, the HS2 (high speed) London-Birmingham trains will be going through where the gates are now. The owners of Stoneleigh will be rolling in compensation money. Quote

I don't understand why they make it free for Kit cars and £15 for non kitcars. The exhibitors want new punters through the doors. I think it should be £5 for kit cars which includes camping if you want and £10 for others. 1 Quote

There are also lots of new buildings springing up. With HS2 I think the site will still operate but with a relocated main entrance. Quote
