kevip6 Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Nooooooo!! This was one of main main reasons for heading along this year, I'm doing a dash conversation and wanted to take a look at the options for switches and buy them all at the stand. I don't mind ordering them and them being posted but I wanted to be able to take a proper look and see how they feel 1 Quote

kevip6 Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Ah.... good, I'm certainly far more likely to buy at the show if I can see them Quote
Captain Colonial Posted April 25, 2016 Author Posted April 25, 2016 I do wish some companies would realise that people buy all year round. While it might be expensive to set up shop at Stoneleigh once a year and they might actually lose money in a pure sense (show cost vs show revenue), what cannot be accurately measured is how many people do repeat business the other 363 days because of the experience they had at Stoneleigh. I fear CBS will lose business there and some further business they will never know about that Europa and SVC will happily gobble up. Further, not bringing goods will start rumours, true or not, that will be difficult to contain, and which competitors may happily exploit. I fear there will be many people who, like me, get real pleasure from buying bits in person, feeling pleased, and enjoy taking them home. If I have to go online, there's a good chance I'll have second thoughts, whereas actually touching the shiny bits with a ready wallet evokes a strong impulse to buy then and there and live with the consequences afterwards. KugaWestie Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Their email does say they will be exhibiting but not holding stock. Maybe they are planning on having the same stand as they normally do, but without the lorry load of gear back of house. So touchy feely perusal may still be available? Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 That's how I originally read it Gary. Better than nothing, but kills all the impulse buys for me, (which will simply end up elsewhere). Quote
Mooch Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Can you imagine an entire show where all the exhibitors only sold via mail order and you couldn't take anything home on the day. I hope it's not the shape of things to come. I can. It's called a website. 1 Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Yeah, and take a look round the crowd at Stoneleigh. You'll see a huge number of "men in sheds" type builders who think the Internet is the mesh part of a filter! They buy in shops and at shows and swap meets. 1 Quote
Thrustyjust Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Me of all people was hoping to grope some objects and be happy with the product before I buy it, especially as in 4 weeks I take delivery of my Westie kit. CBS in the past, I was happy with a 7 inch silencer for my last Westie , over the shoulder back to the carpark. Not a problem. I was going to use something thats been invented for a while now, called a rucksack. So walking around filling it up was the name of the game in my eyes. Guess it will just have the Westfield anniversary T shirt and thats it. I hope Westfield give freebies !! Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Anyone else recieve an email with a 10% off discount voucher for Europa Spares this weekend Quote
Captain Colonial Posted April 26, 2016 Author Posted April 26, 2016 Anyone else recieve an email with a 10% off discount voucher for Europa Spares this weekend Yeah I got that one, it read as if someone's tongue was firmly in their cheek. Wonder if they do 10% off urine extraction devices. Quote
neptune Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 I hope someone at CBS is reading this thread and that if their show plans don't include display stands, they will before the weekend. I'm sure there will be many show visitors who have held off online purchases to benefit from the touchy feely experience that ensures a correct chouce of parts. Quote
tex Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 i emailed them about it - i was holding back on some items that i needed - i wanted to just buy on the day. apparently you get a voucher code [10%] for discount on any order at the show and postage is free. they say its a better deal. if i remember right they always complain about losing stock in the van - they know its there - somewhere - maybe its just a right faff on - filling up the gear - paying extra staff for the show - emptying the van - must take up a lot of time - BUT - i think its not the right way to go - people go to the show to come away with a bag full of gear and a grin... please think again mr CBS... BTW europa are very expensive... Quote
Quinten Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 I must take back some of my scepticism about this. Visited the stand yesterday and spoke to one of their salesman there. When asked about lack of physical stock he said that they can never bring enough stock; customers wants X, but when they bring X, they all want Y, etc. Was given a small card with a 10% discount code and free delivery which would be valid for the next 7 days. Have just placed a small order which I would have liked to buy at the stand, but at a price cheaper than I would be able to get anywhere else, incl delivery. So still a happy customer Quote
