jeff oakley Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 I love the way they think and with the mini it is a technical wonder. With the truck it is just haywire. They would have been easier to just make a body to fit the Daf chassis as that and the chassis and cab is all that is left on the other one. Not sure they will get the weight down so far as what they have replaced, except the engine and box, is similar weightwise. Still worth watching but I cringe when they are using noisey impact drivers and great big hammers with no ear protection. Years of doing that myself has left my hearing less than perfect Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted November 11, 2019 Author Posted November 11, 2019 Didn't they explain, that the ex library truck had all the right approvals or whatever for them to drive it without (presumably) needing different driving licenses? And that trying to get a different chassis through to the same state of play would have been a bureaucratic nightmare? Quote
jeff oakley Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 You may be correct Dave, but older people who passed their test before 1997 should be able to drive upto 7.5 tonnes so I think the problem was once they bought it and weighed it to carry the car it was over the weight of their licence. If they went over that they are into new licence and tacho territory although if not driven for hire or reward then not sure on that. The truck had a lot of things they could cut off but it has morphed to a degree that they could have made a body on a newer chassis. I like watching these but I would love them to finish Binky first as the time factor for both is huge Quote
