WiFi Router with Long Range

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have this problem with router upstairs and smart tv downstairs. What's the best kit for me? Looking on the various sites there's lots to choose from. Looking to spend about £20 to £30.

Any recommendations please?

Stop messing about with wifi and use Powerline adapters.

Hello Hurdsey. HNY 2u2

MotCO, as Gadgetman alludes to I spend a fair amount of time on the water these days. I can't give details of my actual projects but I spend quite a lot of time on things like this: http://www.superyachttimes.com/editorial/31/article/id/8554

I am responsible for on-board wifi and internet connections, telephone systems, radio systems and occasionally chatting up stewardesses! And Monaco is south of Nice :getmecoat:

Kevip6, where (what town) in Essex are you? If you happen to be near-ish to the Herts/Essex border I'd be happy to swing by and give you an almost professional  wifi survey.

Thanks Blatman, that's very good of you, I'm in Ongar so not too far from Herts

Sounds like you have a pretty nice job!  Without obviously going into details are those Yachts usually owned by super rich individuals or companies? must have a pretty large crew!

Usually they are privately owned. 50/60m boat would have a crew of somewhere between 15 and 25 depending.

Let me know how you get on with whatever you are going to try and we can progress from there.

The job sounds idyllic, Blatters. Sadly not for me not only due to my execrable level of knowledge in matters digital, but because of my strong tendency to mal de mer.   I can make myself queasy on a trackday (me driving too) if the rear end goes awry when I don't expect it. I can cope with loads of violent G forces if I am expecting them, but when it is even slightly unexpected, the semi-circular canals dive for cover.
