Quinten Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Serious question: how do they get the helicopters to reverse so neatly in their parking spaces? Ok, maybe not so serious, but still, how do they get parked? Quote

Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 b*******! I'm off to Airbourne at Eastbourne on Saturday and the BoBMF was scheduled to appear! Probably means no other Spitfires or Hurricanes will appear either... 1 Quote

Seeing the level of interest on the forum, as soon as I read it I posted it thinking folk might be planning to go. However safety must come first for the pilots, spectators and these wonderful pieces of flying history. We need to look after them for future generations so they can also hear the Mighty Merlins* roar..! *The only other engine worthy of the prefix 'Mighty' Quote

I take it that Gryphon isn't the principal 'mighty engine' but the Crossflow is? Quote

The engines were subsequently found to be too powerful for the airframe so they had to fit RR Merlins instead. ... or maybe it was just a dream.. Quote

Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 Ah, Russ I heard they were already committed elsewhere, but news reports are often inaccurate. Do we know what the problem is with the Merlin - a pin, I read? Quote
