Trouble with that is the customers won't shake hands with me when i meet them :d

But i like the thought

Got the van empty now so a bit pointless them getting in it now

which bond film was it where the esprit said it had an anti-theft device fitted.

Someone tried to break in and the whole car exploded ;-)

Maybe a bit extreme.

I think a very secure site box fitted in the van is the route I would still take.

You have my sympathy.  My caravan was attacked a few years back, and they stole the beds, the curtains, the radio, the cooker and even the effing kitchen sink.  Light blue transit van seen pulling away at dawn.

I do not know what sort of trade you are in, but you can get site boxes which if not too full are easy enough to lift out and wheel into you home or works.

Also security marking everything is a good idea. Engrave your postcode and the likes of Cash convertors will not touch them for example. Also if they find things the police can tell where they come from and it all helps to build up a case.

In my case, two of the watches were limited edition and I had all the paperwork with serial numbers. Without that the police would have struggled to prove 100% they were mine.

I'm a builder jeff

Some of it was engraved with my name

as i am multi trade there are too many cases to fit in one or two boxes (Or there was) It would also be a nightmare to mark every single piece of small  equipment

A small site i worked on last year had a few of these hidden around the job, maybe they could be rigged up to the van doors. I am sure the blanks could be replaced with full ones!!!!

Exactly what I was going to suggest.  Google "alarm mine" for more suppliers.

I genuinely feel for you and yes the moral fibre of society got put through a wringer whilst we weren't paying attention.

I think you have a very sympathetic audience on this forum as most of us either work with our hands so have trades and understand what it means to lose your tools. Or we belive in being responsible for ourselves, our choice of transport is hardly "nanny state" typical...

I do not want to be a doom and gloom merchant but I wpuld be extremely careful about posting "I would like to do ..." on the tinterweb.

I would be worried that the legal weasels who make money defending the indefensible look for (justified) rants on social media to prove premeditated intent should you be furtunate enough to ever catch up with these scrotes.

The scumbags make you sick. We had a great day out in the Westy today, all round the Peak District then one mile from home scrote kids throwing large stones at cars. They threw one which hit my girlfriend on her arm whilst we were doing 30mph. The result is a big bruise, lots of tears and chuck of sill protector missing. Rang the law but the kids did one straight away laughing. A really good day ruined by degenerates, it makes you question if it's worth it grafting everyday to afford nice things. I'm fuming to put it politely!
