SEight 3.5L V8 engine failure - repair / replace?

Very unfortunate, what happened to yours.

Sounds like a good plan to have an engine builder put it all back together, replacing the bits that need it. Any idea what this might cost on a v8 unit?

I'm afraid any guess would be just that, my crossflow engine rebuild set me back something like £700-£800 and I got an original complete engine from someone who was doing a MK2 Escort Cosworth conversion for £60, but that was a long time ago.

Thanks Jon yes it looks like i'll be fitting a baffled sump, will probably build one myself unless I can find an engine with one that's already sorted. Running R888s on the track so it's nor surprising there was an issue, it was cornering fast. Looks like baffled would be more suitable for me than dry sump, the leg room is appreciated and it's no race car so not necessary to go all the way.

I have a hoist and engine stand, just down the road from you.   Do you have a garage?

Smiths engines are at Burnt Mills and Benchsound are at Stanford le hope, ask them if they are familiar with Rover V8's. Maybe they'll give you a ball park figure for a re build.

Unfortunately currently I only have an underground parking space but not a garage that I can do any real work in, which limits my options in terms of doing work myself. I will have a chat with the guys down at Smiths Engines in Burnt Mills, they're very close by, so thanks for the suggestions!

Driving your V8 in and out of an underground car park must have entertained the residents, or deafened them :suspect:

I have a 4.6 v8 developments engine spare in my garage that I might sell soon . 272bhp. :d

I've no idea what these kind of engines go for in today's market, but PM sent!
