Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup) Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Hello all. From reading some posts, some of you have names for your car. I was wondering why you call them what you do. Mine is Buttercup because of the colour and I thought a nice girly name suited the car. Quote
Captain Colonial Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Mine is well known as The Wench - Lady Chair named it on first sight. It's called The Wench because it's fast, loud, flashy, drinks a lot, smoked a bit (before I changed the valve stem seals), likes a bit of rough, sulks if not paid attention to on a regular basis, and if you're inside her for too long, your goes numb. Dibby Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 The Westfield ... because it's not a Caterham Quote
dombanks Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 the westy.... because its a westy z4= the Z (said zed) or the bimmer swmbo's 106 = the lean green death machine cos its a deathtrap that despite my best efforts wont blimmin do one. older cars sierra 1.8LX = chav mobile cos it was lowered and had an ear bleeding sterio v6 mondeo = mundano due to it being a mondeo yugo 55 = the tank or the skip (people laughed at that car but i bought it/insured it/taxed it/fixed it with my own cash from a sat job at sainsburys and it was all i could afford at 17 ... it was the most indestructible car i have ever owned almost impossible to break if you ignore the big end bearing going, used to play at jumping it on a the humback bridges near my parents) Quote

Tricky Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 " The flying pram " named by my Dad cos it turned him into a jibbering wreck after a nippyish run out over woodhead and back over the snake passes "It's just like being in a runaway pram", consequently he's not been it since. Quote
Paul Gibney - Lancashire AO Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 my wife calls it a roller skate ! Quote
M444TTB Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Just 'The Westfield'. It's always an 'it' too. No him or her references. Quote
Mooch Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Early name was Wendy. As in "Wendy car is finished, it will be very nice". Wife calls it Brum after the kids TV show. I've been known to call her Willomena Westfield. No idea why, but we've had Esmerelda Escort, Claris Yaris and Giggles Galant before now, so there's some previous history. I need therapy..... Quote
Westford Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Mines called Winky, named so by my mate as apparently I'm always playing with it! Westford Quote
tisme Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Westfield = "Westie" (the "ie" is important for some unknown reason). My wife calls it "THAT Westfield") Land Rover Defender = "Bumble" ('cos it does) Skoda Fabia = "Skud" (not because it's a missile !) older vehicles.... Lotus Elan = "Lettuce" Capri 3ltr = "Roofy" (no idea ether though the current urban dictionary says it's slang for a date rape pill - in my day you just flashed your 3ltr Capri at them and that was it ) Horse Box (Iveco 7.5ton) ="Yorkie" (don't all lorry drivers eat them?) Quote
Arthur Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 SWMBO calls it the "Little Red Car" - cos its a little red car ! Quote
