Marital Guidance and Westfield ownership

As part of the deal to buy the factory Mega S2000 last week, I made a lot of promises to the wife.

Promise number 73 was that I wouldn't let Westie ownership hamper our weekends and social life.

When I awoke this morning (Saturday) the sun was streaming down and the sky was blue.

I tentatively asked permission to have a couple of hours blat, to which she said "if you do we're getting divorced".

So, some advice needed from older, wiser members here:

Would she be entitled to half the car?

As long as her half is only the removable body panels and you are left with a rolling chassis, I'd say it was worth a punt...

You could always try the "I need to go out to get your present..." tactic?

Get rid of the lady.

She needs to understand that you work hard to keep her in the manner that she had become acoustemed too and you need a bit of a life yourself.

I would remove the passenger seat to hack her off and then say, "right I am off out"

Run lots of errands.

As you've already found, you'll soon start to know all the long way-rounds!

Be careful not to overplay the, "damn, I just forgot the ___, I'll have to nip back out..." Jocker.

They all become westfield widows at some point

I put all the meetings and car shows on the calander at the beginning of the year

And still it's a surprise when I go off to one of them..

Luckily mine works Saturdays and the sun is shining here too......

Off out , happy blatting all.......

  probably yes

must admit my wife is generally very understanding of all my hobbies inc the Westy side of things - then again I don't ever stop her from doing anything herself

The same old applies - I don't drink (well much anyway), I don't womanise and I don't smoke so a little bit of me time doing healthy activities doesn't hurt anyone, in fact probably makes the relationship stronger :t-up:

So just go, she will get over it :d

 Yep...

PUT absolutely every meet, track day etc in the calendar,

Then tell other half you'll not go to the ones your not planning to anyway to do something with them :)

I must be the lucky one, it goes something like this in our house,

Aren't you going out in your car ?

Ok, want to come with me?

You must be joking.

Take your trousers back, pull then on and get out in the Westy there will be loads of days when the weathers is pants so you can do together stuff. Thankfully I don't have that problem anymore :-)

I get that.

Having said that, we are about to set off to a car show, but it is only about 5 miles away.

Ditto...

The better half hates the Westie like you would not believe it...

Which works well, means my evening blats are never questioned as if I'm out the house there isn't a brainless movie being played at 100db and she can watch the gardening programs

You made the mistake of asking for permission. Also you need to use a distraction such just off to buy you something nice for breakfast.........

don't forget that old adage ... the bloke get's married hoping his wife will never change and the wife gets married hoping she can change her husband.

Man up and get out in the car and tell your missus to get a hobby ;-)

PS I'm not married !
