Paul Morcom
Two class wins aside this has to be one of the best events I have ever been to....... The hill was very technical and challenging; considering this was the first visit for most, good times were achieved and big smiles were everywhere. I had plenty of competition in the Pre 94 Formula Ford class; breaking the HSA Class record on both days. The commentator was even heard to say I was "Sluggish into Ettore's Bend" - what does he know! The event was very well run by Longton DMC, the marshalls and others. I had the benefit of chatting to them and an ambulance team while I waited patiently at The Esses having encountered a mechanical issue with the gear linkage - quickly repaired with a bit a wire from the trackside fence. Great guys and full of enthusiasm for what we enjoy doing. Catering in the club house was amazing value - £10 for more than you could possibly eat and it tasted good! Prescott Brewery Hill Climb beer got into my veins and helped me go faster on Sunday The whole event was well supported and the paddock was full of interesting vehicles, the scene of the massive Dodge running up the hills, nearly wider than the track and longer than most of the straights was great. Credit goes to the driver who managed to stay on the steering wheel side of the car - not easy with a full width bench seat . Let's hope Longton DMC get given the opportunity to run the weekend on an annual basis. Icing on the cake for me is that I only live 20 miles or so away from Prescott so quick journey home, car unloaded, G&Ts in the garden, then supper and a good bottle of red wine. The perfect weekend and father's day
Sean12
It was a good weekend, until my second timed run on saturday. When I had an altercation with the barrier at Orchard corner. I would like to thank all the marshalls, medics and WSCC members for their support and assitance after the incident. Luckily I am fine and only my car and reputation was damaged. All I have to do now is work out how to get the car off the trailer without a telihandler. sorry guys, quick question, what is the vertical bit of aero on the nose cone, and what is it supposed to do ? Thanks
XTR2Turbo
That's a timing strut to break the timing lights at the start and finish
stephenh
Sean, it's the timing beam breaker. A requirement on all sprint and hillclimb cars.
XTR2Turbo
You set some amazing times Paul. It was close between you and another car and the commentator went into a Murray Walker frenzy when you were on your second timed run and just pipped him. Sean12
ahhh, i see, im glad that was the answer because i was questioning its ability to have any aero effect haha Cheers guys, learning everyday
Rory's Dad
Just to add to Paul's post - it was great to spectate too and for all the same reasons plus I would add the setting which is just great. Being able to sit near the start line suited me (and my bad back) very well. Shame that they don't have dot matrix screens for cars, speed and times (like Harewood). There was also some comments from Prescott regulars that Longton DMC ran things 'a bit differently' from others. But in what way?? Nice to chat to WSCC competitors (including Paul) and to Andrew Reeves (Cotswold AO) and yes the beer was great too. All in all a great weekend
Paul Morcom
There was also some comments from Prescott regulars that Longton DMC ran things 'a bit differently' from others. But in what way?? Martin, The Bugatti Owners Club only ever give the competitors and spectators two practice and two competition runs (as does Shelsley Walsh and Gurston Down). Longton have always prided themselves in giving as many runs as possible so we had... Saturday - 2 practice and 3 competition runs. Sunday - 1 practice (2 for those that were not there on Saturday) and 4 timed runs.

Fantastic value for money and will look to do more of their events in the future Edited to add, I've just printed off their entry form for Anglesey in October, now just need permission from SWMBO

Keith the Teeth
That was an excellent weekend! All praise to Longton for having the courage to take on arranging the event and then coming up with such a smoothly run couple of days. To those competing everything appeared to run like clockwork. From the marshall in the upper paddock counting down when we were due to set-off to the start line, always being told when a red flag was out, to the excellent catering an refreshments, the location and an extremely challenging track I echo Pauls comment that it has to go down in my experience as one of the all-time enjoyable motor sport weekends. Many thanks to everyone at Longton who must have put in huge amounts of time and effort to pull-off such a success. It is much appreciated. I sincerely hope that it can be repeated in 2015. (Oh - It was only during a chat before prize giving that I found out that Longton also arranged all the side showas as well (the middle-ages re-enactment, the archery, face painting, model car racing, etc).
