Lyonspride
Men's trainers are designed all boat like, to make feet look big and manly, look out for the near identical women's versions and the opposite is true. I have a pair of women's Vans trainers and they're perfect in the Westfield..... Narrower but otherwise identical to the men's. Size 8 feet help though

Yanto
You need an excuse? I teeter about in my wife's high heels all the time I wear a pair of suede casual shoes, they happen to be Nike ones but that means nowt, they are like deck shoes, of which I have an old pair which I also wear. I'm not a racing car driver and don't really want to wear shoes that they wear.
Boombang
You can get Puma speed cats all in one colour, they look a lot more like regular trainers then.

pre-lit steve
Lonsdale slip ons (no laces to get tangled) from sports direct. Best I could find that wasn't the full race shoe look
Rich A
Puma's website often has a sale on their 'motorsport' shoes, which have narrow soles. I got a pair of drift cats for £30 http://uk.puma.com/en_GB/sale/mens/shoes
dhutch
I have some black swede speedcats, and some kart boots. - Kart boots take a while to get one and off. - Speedcats are a size to small for my feet! Daniel

Onliest Smeg David
Apart from close fitting/narrow as has been mentioned, get thin soles and it's also preferable to have a sole that curves up onto the heal.

The Racelidz boots do just that, perfect.
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
...But they're pixie boots again, not shoes. (Though if you do need race boots, they're very good!)
Pistol Pete
+1 for the Lonsdale trainer, although I have the laced version. Looks like a trainer, nice and narrow and with the sole running back over the heal - £20 from Sport and Soccer.
