Not so much a black art, but it will vary for different packing materials, so always worth confirming with the manufacturer what sort of fill ratio they intend. (you're right though, I suppose if you wanted to get the best result possible, you'd need some trial and error testing, but for most, about right, will probably do!)

gadgetman is quite correct, based on the information I also have received. The calculator (when it's right) gives you a very close guesstimate for fast road use however, if it's more for track, then a little more would be advised - up to 0.7m IIRC from my conversation. Like I said, I'd advise a call to ?? (still can't bl**** remember his name :( ) at SaveGuard.
