  2. Distributor and coil for Vauxhalls I had an intermittent fault on my XE redtop and replaced loads of bits to trace the fault which turned out to be the Weber Alpha ignition management system. My saviour was this distributor, amp and coil from a Vauxhall 8v Cavalier - worked a treat - whoop whoop! 3 months later I bought a new ignition system so this dizzy, amp, (homemade heatsink) and coil are available. (cap and rotor new - used for 2 months) Open to offers, £25 + postage ? Pete
  3. My crossflow has been less than mighty of late, so I finally got time to investigate. The culprit turned out to be the distributor cap. The bush in the middle was missing - I think the only reason I managed to get back to the garage on my last drive was because the spring was just touching the rotor arm. So, I need a new cap. I'd welcome advice on where (or not) to get one from. There are some on Ebay, and some more expensive ones from the likes of Burton, Holden, and the Distributor Doctor. I've not found the missing bush, and it occurred to me it might be in the distributor body.

Hi all, i am in the process of upgrading my distributor on my Ford 1.6 Crossflow from points to electronic ignition. I have installed the new distributor and connected the black cable to the old cable that was there which is all good. Now when i come to the red wire the the instructions say to plug it into the positive side of the coil if you have standard ignition or onto the ballast block if you have ballast ignition (bear in mind that i have no idea what a ballast block is) I already have a cable on the positive and i have a big block on the bulkhead which i think is the bal

Aldon / Lucas distributor for X-flow

Greetings!! Whilst i'm rebuilding the carbs (waiting on a few parts), I decided to change the condenser on the distributor and also to dismantle and check/lube the advance. Can someone in the know, please tell me if this photo looks correct? (ignore the red splodges, it's grease) The red arrows point to the advance mechanism, the blue arrows/dots point to holes in the base of the dizzy at 12, 3, 6 and 9 oclock. Can anyone tell me if the mechanism should be lined up and bolted to the dizzy case? I didn't find any loose screws, im fairly confident it's "ok", but whe
