Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup) Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 I have started a new thread to make this a place where we can place our photos and videos of the trip. This will build up over the next week as I find time to sort everything out. BOB, LORNA, DAVE, GARY, TOM, LES, JOHN and PAUL. Can you place your pictures in this thread please. This was the first day on our run up to Scotland. We were spotted by Mr Crow on the motorway and this was a great surprise. Massive horse statues that dominate the motorway. Paul and Clair, photographing us photographing them. The view out of our bedroom window looking down the loch to Queen Victoria's repose in the back ground. It was so quiet with just me and a few animal noises. 1 Quote

This was about 10.15 at night. The mountains behind Bob and Lorna were turning a lovely pink colour. Picture of the commando memorial. this place is worth stopping and is a moving place if you are in the right frame of mind. MMMMMMM. which is best. The yellow car or the yellow car. Flypast of jets organised by Bob. Gold or silver wheels. Eilean Donar Castle. There was even another "beggar" here. Driving up to Applecross. The roads are a bit uneven but its a fabulous drive. This is the first cover that Soft Bits for Sevens had made for a Westfield and its very secure. One of the fairy rings in the Fairy Glenn. you throw a coin into the centre and make a wish. the Fairy Glen is a fantastic place to visit. A new mural has appeared in Moine House. It has been sprayed over an older one. Buttercup and Moine House. A family of ten used to live in the house. There is nothing but peat bog up here and the nearest thing to the house are the mountains in the distance. I love it here and make a point of stopping every year. Buttercup and a ship wreck. Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup) Posted June 10, 2016 Author Posted June 10, 2016 This is a french chap I had a great chat with. His bike had a pull start, petrol engine on the rear hub. This is Duntottar Castle. This really is a place to visit and is superb. Here we are at the castle. From left to right. The Court Jester. The Toilet Cleaner. The King and the Master of Arms. Our roles were decided on our personalities and persona. Skeleton in the closet. The poor people. David with "Custard" and Les's V8 monster. It was really clean and very smart. Parked up for a cup of tea and something hot to eat. Cafe had stopped doing food. Parked on the Lecht. We drove through unbelievable rain and gary's poor car broke down in the middle on no-where. This is where Gary's car broke down. Buttercup is admiring the view. 1 Quote
Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup) Posted June 10, 2016 Author Posted June 10, 2016 Poor Buttercup been used as a clothes horse to dry my clothes. Mr repair man working with Gary on his car. The air was fully of midges at this time of night and boy o boy.... they were hungry for blood. This is the whisky distillery that we visited and we were totally spoilt by the staff. Look at the price of this bottle of whisky. This is the Cairngorm railway that we rode on.... It is really steep and smashing views from the top with a cafe and toilets. Gary in happier times.....Look at his face....bless him. The mcNab burial ground in Killin. A number of Clan chiefs are buried in the enclosure. The enclosure has the river running both sides and we sat here for ages having the most sensible conversations of the whole trip. Its a fantastic place to sit and the air is full of pungent flowers. The best bit of all.....FOOD. 2 Quote
yellow perilous Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Hi Geoffrey, Really enjoyed your daily reports and latest pictures. Like Clark, my wife and I are doing the west coast and back down the middle ( East is not our favourite!!!) starting on the 26th of this month for a week. We are spending a full day on Skye and then taking a few days to get up to Durness before returning through the central Glens. I am a member of the NC500 club so have picked up a few of the highlights from them, but I like some of your 'special places' as well and if it's OK may I PM you for some details? Cheers Mike Quote
Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup) Posted June 10, 2016 Author Posted June 10, 2016 Hi Mike. You will have a great journey. I am also not a lover of the east coast. Please feel free to PM me anytime. Please don't ask me to pronounce the names though. Quote
