CLAN McWESTY: 6TH HIGHLAND GATHERING 2016

 

Welcome to the official thread for the Clan McWesty 6th Highland Gathering taking place Friday 17th - Sunday 19th June 2016!

 

We toyed with the idea of changing this trip for 2016 to include the North Coast 500 and even considerd doing something completely different, but the draw o' tha heilands is too strong .. .. well, for another year, at least!

 

A general heads up here: For anyone thinking about doinf the NC500 in a medium/large group may want ot consider planning/booking well in advance as this route has seen somewhat of a boom in tourism for the whole route! It even found it's way onto a whole episode of Countryfile so that's the secret out and it'll be soon thronging with campervans and cyclists cycling 3 abreast!!!

 

Details for the weekend will follow and I'll update this first post as and when the details are firmed up but they'll not be dissimilar to those of previous years. I suggest you get booking your accommodation now! Any stragglers who find they miss out on the camping huts, on-site B&B or the local hotel, pop a bed request on here as we often can squeeze you into somewhere...!

Loch carron petrol station toilet booked 4.30 friday

Applecross Inn  booked 6.30 on the Saturday night

vw camper van held up due to lazy owner should have been finished last year

trees from Onich to Fort William cut down

Good weather on back order but may be available
