I almost cried!

Been left there for 20years... Every bit of rubber hose, line, tyre and everything will need changing, new carpets, new battery... Is there any part salvageable?

But if someone gave it some TLC and threw money at it... It'd be a nice car.

If he spent an hour taking stuff off it and a day cleaning it I'm sure he'd get Sommin for it. Be perfect for Mrs C, but he wants too much and be to much of a risk at that price.

Been watching this for a while, just for a chuckle.

14 offers so far oh to be a fly on the wall

do you think the battery will be OK

maybe we should club together and do something with it for charity

Actually if you look at it as a kit, £3500 isn't bad. When I bought mine it was in a terrible state (even earlier model left in garage 1990), you strip everything out and "start again" mine hadn't even been registered so had to go through IVA, so it is possible. If, as the advert says its been in the garage then there would be quite a lot of serviceable parts from that car. Certainly chassis would probably be ok, change oil in gearbox/axle etc. and they would probably be ok, bodywork can be resprayed if necessary, engine may even be a "good un". Trim is cheap, so replacing the scruffy parts is not a problem. Overall if I was looking for another project I would be looking at this except.......

The concern I would have is the registration, I would be far more comfortable if it had a Q plate, the L reg plate suggests "dodgy registration". In 1990's it would have been pre SVA but still Q plate era and so I would have to look at the log book very carefully to check it was a "westfield" not an "escort". My fear would be that you would do all the work and end up facing re-registration/IVA as I say it can be done but its a lot of extra pennies and work.

Just my 2p worth

There's a thread running about it on Locostbuilders, it's apparently registered as a Cortina Convertible.

Lets not head down that particular rabbit hole again. For cars genuinely registered back in the old days when a bit of an anything goes attitude seemed to hold, before SVA. The DVLA seem OK still with retrospectively sorting out the documentation.

Quite right, it always amazes me how people expect to sell stuff on ebay for good money but can't be bothered to take a half decent photo. Half hour removing the junk and giving it a wipe over with a damp rag would make a massive difference.

Stored in that dry garage it won't be too bad.

I like the way it has the labels still on the front tyre

Maybe its a clever way to get people on kit car forums to spread the word about the car.

It was spotless before he covered it with rubbish and emptied the Hoover bags onto it to take the photos :)

Seems to have worked ;)

Kev's got a point!

Meakin's got one too. It dies look in reasonable condition. But it would need a lot of work to get it in the show room. Yes it has a lot of potential. I still think a bit risky. Plus why leave it in a garage for 20 years?

The convertiable cortina bit is interesting, I now see why some adverts have "correctly registared as a..." in them. But I was still playing kiss chase and bull dog in the 90's so not too aware of that. I do know Irish plates were always avoided for similar reasons.

Somebody ask him what the V5 says...

Go on...
