Dodgey Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Well, they will come up soon I imagine (I just got home). I only know mine and James' , roughly, as we were parked next to each other and competing with each other :-) My best on the last mostly dry/still some damp corners session was 183 and James was 188, or something like that. The previous 50/50 wet/dry I did 202 and James did 201 - or something like that. Our practice, in the snow, which they timed, was appalling ! in the 240's :-) Pretty amazing overall for James as those 3 sessions are his only experience of the track, and the practice didn't count for much as it was like ice. We both agreed that with a few more laps in the "mostly dry" we could have gone a lot faster Quote
jeff oakley Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I take my hat off to all the competitors who braved the day, to say it was bitter cold would be putting it mildly. It is bad enough driving in those conditions but trying to fix cars when the spanners are freezing as well is not nice. I couldn't stay to watch but what I saw was either madness or dedication. Quote
Dodgey Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Yeah - I owe my girlfriend some special time after being my pit girl all day - she's in the bath thawing out! Quote
Terry Everall Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 If you want to win you need to be off the mark quickly I have already been promised an initial report on practice and first timed runs Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 And the times were??????I've a full set of the timing sheets so I'll get them scanned and emailed over to tigger in the morning I don't believe there were any class records broken today Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I've a full set of the timing sheets so I'll get them scanned and emailed over to tigger in the morning I don't believe there were any class records broken today Mark, that would be great, but please make sure they are the final signed ones. alexander72 Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Evening Gentlemen, (and ladies) I am just home having arrived home to 2 foot drifts around my workshop. What a day - great to meet everyone, great to get on a track bigger than Curbourough but it all took a lot of getting used to. Practice was cut to 1.75 laps (the sprint distance) and we did that once in the sleet. I drove like my nan and posted 240 seconds or something V slow akin to the time of those that span!! 1st timed run was a lot drier so managed 200 seconds ish. Gave myself a stiff talking to and some coke and managed a 185 second second lap. Didnt have time to walk the track as i failed the noise test and that took 15 minutes to pass on the 2nd attempt. Massive thanks to Stu Hill for his attendance and help with course book, Matt Hillam for a few words on lines and carrying speed and well done to all the hardy souls who made it down there. Thumbs down to Travelodge for leaving a massive t+rd in our bathroom when we checked in at 11:30 last night An absolutely top day!! Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Mark, that would be great, but please make sure they are the final signed ones. Looks like everyone had an interesting day :D Thanks Nick, Looking forward to kicking this off Tiggs Ok thanks guys, they're not signed so I'll hold off until I get emailed the official results to be sure unless you want them provisionally. Mark (smokey mow) Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 A snapshot of this mornings weather :xmas: Quote
Lumme! Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 When I started this thread I had in mind a warm Castle Combe under blue skies, as it has been for the last couple of years. Yesterday couldn't have been much more of a contrast as many have said, but the good company of fellow members went a long way to making it a good day despite the elements - thanks! I thought that the Bristol Motor Club team did a great job in the circumstances and I take my hat off to the marshalls who were soaked and frozen for long periods; above and beyond the call of duty, I reckon. Bispers - please pass our thanks on if you have the opportunity. Cheers, Simon Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Bispers - please pass our thanks on if you have the opportunity. Ditto from me too I also didn't get a chance to thank all the marshalls that braved the cold both out on track, but also in the paddock and pitlane without who the event wouldn't have happened. As a driver and spectators we at least could find some warmth between our runs or head to the tavern to hide from the inclement weather but I take my hat off to all the guys and girls that toughed it out trackside Quote
alexander72 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Echo that from Lumme and Smokey, Marshalls did a great job ALL day and cleared that Escort in only 15 minutes - Bispers - from me and Debbie thanks for making my "first time out" a great one. We had a great day and cant wait to come back! James and Debbie Quote
