Tyson Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 We are all aware of the lack of storage space in a Westfield so what do you do when you need to travel a distance? I am thinking about fitting some sort of waterproof bag to the roll bar and sitting behind the head rests. Any ideas? What have you done in the past? Quote
Tom Frankland (T3OMF) Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 This was my storage solution when we went down to Monaco Between the 2 bags there is a rack which I brought off a guy that makes them on here Hope this helps Quote
Norman Verona Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 We went to Le Mans with the large stuff strapped where the spare wheel would go. Lots of bungees and never a problem. Everything wrapped and taped into garden grade heavy duty green sacks. Quote
FILFAN Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 I was thinking of fitting a top box to the cage when it's fitted Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 I use one of Paul Ash's racks. It works very well for lashing down those extra items and 2 cases of beer fit perfectly for the drive home from LeMans Quote
pete g Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 theres loads of places to fit tools etc once you start looking ie.inside spare wheel. jack under the rear arch chassis rail. loads of room under the bonnet. then places under the dash. and once thats all used stack it up on the boot boot. i made a frame that sat over the rear wheel and had 3 shelves one behind wheel and one either side above the lights.it took all my camping gear no problem Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 I agree with Pete, for my trip to France I had cans of oil and coolant sat on the scuttle under the bonnet and cable tied to the side of the battery Quote
Tom Frankland (T3OMF) Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 I was thinking of fitting a top box to the cage when it's fitted Thats what I keep telling the wife.......... she keeps say noooo, it'll look stupid Quote
FILFAN Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Would be alot tidier than bags strapped everywhere. And you could soon remove it when you get where your going Quote
mikef Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 I cut a sheet of plywood to fit over the boot box but under the boot tonneau cover. I can now put bags etc directly on top of the boot box without it falling through the tonneau cover. Quote
User0083 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 I use a Ali box made to sit on the spare wheel holder. I lined the back with carpet, to rest against the tub. U bolts tightened on the inside of the box and going around the wheel bracket. 200mmx1000mmx450mm made from 2mm Ali It's thin and long... But worked well and a mate wanted it for his Robin Hood, swapped for full webber service, oil/filter and plugs for engine service. Quote

Welly Jen Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Big Ortlieb dry bags, strapped on to the roll bar has worked for me. If you evict your passenger, then they can go in their footwell and seat! Jen Quote
