Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Just to add further; while you can obviously get better and better powered mic's, there's not a lot of point going too far, as the audio recording side of the GoPro is only average. It was only really designed for a bit of background atmospherics and a few shouts and screams from the person wearing the camera as they did ever more extreme sports! Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Just been to Costco and got a a 32gb scandisk class 10 card for £25. More than eBay but atleast it's genuine eBay is packed to the gunnels with fake Sandisk (and others) cards. Which are, in honesty, often OK for basic file transfer or use in basic cameras. Not on a GoPro though at high res/frame rates.
Ciprian
Those reviews on amazon for the mic are not really good init?
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Wouldn't know, I went off the advice of a load of pro video makers, haven't read them. Hang on, I'll have a look.
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Those reviews on amazon for the mic are not really good init? Average is four stars, is that not OK? If you're expecting. Road cast quality recording of ANY mic attached to a GoPro, you may be disappointed. The response available is something like 150 - 15,000 Hz and audio encoding codecs just aren't designed for that! The same pros that recommend the AT's will also be the first to point out that if you want really high quality audio, you'll really need to do what they do and use a sepperate audio recorder, just like they do with their regular video camera footage and sync in post processing. For any one interested, the Zoom range seems to be consistently highly recommended for budget digital audio recorders. Though obviously, it'll be more costly than a mic! Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
If you want something a bit higher quality than a budget mic. the Sennheiser is apparently a good step up. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-ME-2-Microphone/dp/B004UNQ4US/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1343150977&sr=8-

Easy peasy. Agree about the mic too, the waterproof housing seems to pick up plenty of mechanical noise through the mount. Our camera is a couple of years old, it's a Gopro Hero wide I think. There are better ones about now. Did I say it was waterproof!

Rab (bombero) Reid
Guys, I don't want to sound like a Doubting Thomas but if GoPro are stating that the rrp for the Hero2 Motorsports Edition is £299 and eBay sellers are flogging them at circa £200, am I missing something here?? The eBay ones are pucker non refurbished ones, I assume. I use eBay as an axample mind, as I know there are other online sellers selling around the same price. hen considering spending this kind of money, I want to make sure that I wouldn't be buying a lemon ..
