kev91 Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I'd be interested in this, although have no track experience Quote
Matta Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I'd be interested in this, although have no track experience Don't worry Kev - this is a good way of getting track experience! Knockhill also do 'performance driving days' in your own car with one of their instructors. In fact anyone new to Westie-type cars would benefit from this. Have a look at the Knocker's website - they're offering a reduced rate of £95 for this st the moment. You get a couple of laps for the instructor to evaluate you, then he drives a couple of laps to get the feel of the car. Quick chat then you drive for 25ish laps under instruction. I did one of these (in the wet) when I got my first Westie and had a brilliant time - well worth it IMO. Matt Quote
ziplob Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 kev dont worry about it you will soon get the hang of it just remember to look in your mirrors and drive to your limits and let me past and you will be fine. Quote
Rab (bombero) Reid Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 No track experience either Kev, so I'm considering some tuition before going anywhere near the track with the ne'er dae wells on here! Quote
kev91 Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 kev dont worry about it you will soon get the hang of it just remember to look in your mirrors and drive to your limits and let me past and you will be fine. I bet set my mirrors properly set my mirrors then No track experience either Kev, so I'm considering some tuition before going anywhere near the track with the ne'er dae wells on here! Considering it myself, the 'performance driving days' that Matta was talking about sounds just the ticket. I am going to look into it Quote
GreigM Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 Just a wee update - Knockhill haven't released any dates past March yet, so will wait a while before trying to negotiate a slot. However there is a hot hatch day this sunday (26th) which I should be going up to - if anyone wants to get a feel for what goes on it might be a good time, and I'm happy to take anyone out as a passenger to give them a feel for the circuit if they haven't been round it before. I think its £6 or £8 entry for spectators.... Quote
kev91 Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I might take a run up on Sunday to this if the weather is dry, then again it is knockhill with its own weather system Quote
Nicks100 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I've got family commitments so won't make it this weekend ! If it's dry I will swear loudly !!! Quote
S2T Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I may be interested in this also but will depend on the day as I have a bit of a trip to do - I have to say the rates you are quoting a very good. The Subaru Impreza club are charging £100- £125 for 1/2 a day Quote

Just a quick note, I'm going to speak to Knockhill this week, but think we might struggle for numbers...however I'm going up this Sunday if anyone wants a hurl in the passenger seat Quote
Matta Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Greig - May nip up in the Westie on Sunday and say hello if my 'social secretary' doesn't have anything else planned. Fingers crossed for weather like today's! Matt Quote
frag68 Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 If the weather is good and I get all my necessary jobs done on the car, like sort sticking pistons in a caliper, new clutch cable, finally fitting the wishbones I got from Matt last year, new ball joints etc then I will be there. The weather forecast for Sunday looks good though according to BBC Fraser Quote
