steppenwolf
i have just given up rc model flying after 23 year Welcome, John. I used to do this too - even wrote about my exploits under the pseudonym of 'The Sussex Winchman' and wrote a regular piece called 'Not on the Level'. As you can no doubt guess from the titles, no noise was involved!
7SE
Hello John, Fixed wing or helicopters? Welcome to the board, good luck with the SDV, judging by the threads hereabouts it will be 'interesting' to put together. Sounds like kit car building the way it used to be Plenty of advice to be found here though...
flyingjohn
Thank you all for your welcome. Well i am from the midlands well south staffs not far away from westfield factory. I used to fly fixed wing models being a major part of my local club for many years took its toll on me noise and council planning. Having a few problems locating a 2.0 ohc sierra donor in the midlands load of cvh and dohc looking for three weeks so far. Why does westfield state using a ohc and not other engines in there sdv kits? Mant thanks again.

DENNISTHEMENACE
Hi John, welcome. I have just started flying fixed wing RC aircraft having tried a heli for a year or so. Many blades and booms later it has gone. I now have a trianer 40. The only problem is the plane wont fit in the Westy I still race 1/8th I.C. Circuit cars nationally during the summer months and hopefully the plane in the winter. Of course the Westy gives the most enjoyment, ENJOY yours. Ditch the flying club and join WSCC instead. Dennis p.s. Before you all ask 1/8th I.C. Circuit are not toy cars e.g. 3.5 cc engine 2.1bhp nitro methanol fuel over 600 BHP per ton! rev to 46,000 rpm, 8 port engine tuned exhaust 4wd, 2 speed autobox inboard vented disc independent suspension coil over fully adjustable shocks adlustable front and rear anit roll bars adjustable toe in/out front and rear adjustable camber angle front and rear adjustable castor and roll centre front. adjustable wheelbase and track adjustable ride height switchable ABS Multi tyre compounds 0-60 sub 2.0 seconds NOT SCALE Genuine speed I'm off to get my transmitter
Fat Albert
All well and good Menace but you didn't say whether you use 1/8th scale 185s or 205s at the front Welcome John, Oh and as well as my (real) LS8 share I have one of these hanging in the garage

taffy
Hi John I was a RC pilot. Flew IMAC at the Nationals a few times and competed in Europe. Sold all me big stuff, just keep a few small models for fun now. I still fly near Fradly, pop over when you finish your car. Rob

Mike-SEiW
p.s. Before you all ask 1/8th I.C. Circuit are not toy cars e.g. 3.5 cc engine 2.1bhp nitro methanol fuel over 600 BHP per ton! rev to 46,000 rpm, 8 port engine ... 0-60 sub 2.0 seconds NOT SCALE Genuine speed I can beat that, easily. I drag race 1/8th scale. highest measured rpm on a dyno was 49500rpm. Estimations of hp are around 3hp - our cars weigh 2.8kg, making over 1000bhp per ton. 0-50.2 metres record is currently 2.13s, speed around 130km/h, 0-60 in under a second. We could go even faster but want it to be as true to scale as can be done: Enjoy!
peterg
Wow! I never knew there were scale model dragsters *quickly adds one to the Xmas present list* Oh and I used to do indoor circuit (electric) RC car racing a good few years ago but found you can't beat the real thing Peterg, another 'man in shed'
