fatbaldbloke
Hiya. Looking good. Where did you get the CF rear arches from? Mickmade? Hi Adam, nope, I actually got them off the for sale board last year, they were unused but unwanted (still not cheap though...). I initially thought they were originally made by Fluke, but I now know they were made by a guy called Phil Cooper who I've worked with quite coincidentally in a couple of F1 teams. He made 3 pairs for his own car which he sold several years ago. They are ultra light and full prepreg, unlike the Fluke ones which are grp with a carbon layer. I shall be fitting some armourfend type film on the front to help preserve them.
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
MOG Racing in Germany are the guys that bought Fluke. I believe they've got a UK distributer again now though. MOG were the company that actually made most (all?) of Fluke's carbon. They're more of a Caterham specialist over there though, and in real terms, I don't know how much of a market there really is for that much (high quality, pre-preg) carbon in the Westfield community. simon besant
Where did the carbon rear arches come from ?
Norman Verona
I bought my rear wings (after the accident) from MOG. Seriously late with delivery. I'm not impressed with the quality, they're glass fibre witha carbon "skin" on the outside. They're much heavier than other carbon panels made by RiF. They've gone almost completely white from UV attack. I will have to paint them over the winter.
fatbaldbloke
I just have to stick the front number plate on and it's ready for the MOT - the first for 7 years! I still have to fit a grill, make the boot cover, pedal cover and sump guard and do a little bit of tidying before it's arguably finished but that can come later. There's a private road up the side of our house, so a little earlier today I took it for its first outing, just a couple of hundred yards but I made it into third, the speedo worked, I did a 3 point turn with the electric reverse, and the clutch was just fine, in fact it was a delight to drive...roll on the MOT and the summer. fatbaldbloke
Summer? roll on summer I hear you cry??are you serious??? There was a bit of irony there. Actually it's been good, the weather being so s**t, as I haven't missed much blatting.
fatbaldbloke
It's booked in to Troy at NMS to set up the suspension the first week in August, and then over to Radical to fine tune the Power Commander. In the meantime I might add up what it's cost...but then again maybe it's best not to
