fatbaldbloke Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 QUOTE Alfa Romeo C6? Well, yes it is technically, but the 6C designation covered nearly 30 years of cars which were fitted with the Alfa straight 6 engine. This one is very, very, special, one of only 6 built. It's still driven on the roads (photo is from the Knebworth classic car show 2009), and the value...let's start the bidding at £1m.... So, here's a final clue.... Quote
Andy Banks Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 (Yes, if you're fairly proficient at computery things you can trace the source and get to it that way, but if you do your gentleman's vegetables will fester at the corners and drop off, it's an old gipsy curse...) Big hint that. I know what it is now (my first guess not even close). Quote
fatbaldbloke Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 I'll reveal all... It is a 1938 Alfa Romeo 6C 2300 Mille Miglia Superleggera, and it's the superleggera (lightweight) bit that makes this car so special. Anybody have another one? Good game... Quote
Captain Colonial Posted July 5, 2011 Author Posted July 5, 2011 Well, since no one got that, the rules say you can submit a new one! So off you go! Quote
Andy Banks Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 If I'm butting in - shout but here is mine. Should be pretty easy I think: Quote
Captain Colonial Posted July 5, 2011 Author Posted July 5, 2011 Said it was easy And you were right... drove one just once to see if it was as bad and lethal as they said - it was and then some. Never driven a car before or since with such bad snap lift oversteer, which was amazing considering the engine was gutless. Go just a little warm into a turn and lift off the gas even just a little, and you were eating telephone pole through the rear window. OK, my go - this one's a stinker and quite tricky, so feel free to ask questions: Clicky Quote
Nic Ayre Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 First thoughts was a Studebaker or maybe something of Australian build Warm or Freezing? Quote
Captain Colonial Posted July 5, 2011 Author Posted July 5, 2011 Freezing, I'm afraid... OK, hint time. North American build... Quote
