Nic Ayre Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Looks about 1965/66 era Must remember to refresh Quote
fatbaldbloke Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Shall I slip in a really tricky one for today... I know this is a bike but there's almost a legitimacy in including it under the guess that car banner (a bit of a clue there). I'm going to be truly in awe of anybody that gets this. Quote
Captain Colonial Posted July 8, 2011 Author Posted July 8, 2011 Cheeky swine! Two wheels bad, four wheels good! However, I'll allow that to run as a side guessing game (appears to be a BMW to me of some sort). Anyway, on behalf of our friend Mr V8 Grunt, here's your next challenge (don't blame me, I'm just the messenger): Quote
V8grunt Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Thank you O Chief Pop corn supplier! I also need to know WHERE the car is on view! AND the colour of the car on show in the hotel next door! Not to difficult.... Quote
Norman Verona Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 I think it's a Sunbeam. having had a quick Google I know know it's a Sunbeam. My sunbeam Quote
fatbaldbloke Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 I think it's a Sunbeam. If you're referring to the bike, nope. Quote
carpetstu Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 the solar car looks like the one Kansas State University one built ? Quote
V8grunt Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Don't know who built it...Just what it said it was called on the front! Quote
Norman Verona Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Ian, I was referring to the bike and it looks exactly like a Sunbeam. OK, I give up. ed to add: 1960 Sunbeam the 6th picture reg: LNG596. Would it be from eastern europe then? Quote
fatbaldbloke Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 I'm going to help out Norm, I don't think anyone will guess this, but it's really interesting. It's a ..... Vauxhall. Here's a link to it's history... clicky Quote
V8grunt Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Well I scoured the Internet for at least 30 Min's looking for clue's to what it was! I thought the engine was rather chunky! O the kit car you were interested in sold for £12000, It's on it's way to France. Quote
fatbaldbloke Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 QUOTE O the kit car you were interested in sold for £12000 Do you know, I kept thinking about it even after I pulled out. May be the one that got away. I do however have the next Westfield project on the way, arriving next Saturday. I only knew about the Vauxhall Motorbike as I started at Vauxhall Motors as a student in the early '70s and they had a small museum next to the apprentice school and it was in there. We used to make loads of parts for them. PS: I'm completely stumped by the solar car, I've scoured google for blinking ages.... Quote
Nic Ayre Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Think Honda were always having a go at that race with a solar car. Quote
Nic Ayre Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Think that might be the Sunswift II built by the University of New South Wales. Quote
Norman Verona Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 You were right, only the select few would have known about the VX bike. But the engine does resemble the Sunbeams. Quote
