One of the sadest days

Morning all,

This is NOT a good day for me, due to Surrey county council's poor maintenence of the roads out of my village and some w$nker$ seeing if they can get treble figures on the speed sign down the road the council have decided to put speed bumps on the road directly outside my house and seem to be not overly botherd about repairing the roads out of the village in the near future.

Hence the post, i currently own a 59 Plate factory built SEiW fitted with a 2L Zetec bought direct from wsc in april (yes i know i have only had it a few months dont rub it in) Lovely dark red, fitted with heater pack, matt black pack (lights etc) spare wheel, removable steering wheel, lockable boot, full wet weather gear. Since i have had the "beast" it has had a cat2 imob (laserline) fitted and covered about 700miles.

Im trying to sort this out before i go off to nurburg at the end of July, im idealing looking to sell quick/part x for a Audi RS4 B5 or CL55AMG plus some cash obv.

Ive had some silly part x offers from companies who have spoken to some "specialists" lol, i would love to know who they spoke to i think it may have been arthur dayley, giving me prices which you couldnt even buy a kit for.

Anyways you see my posistion sorry to babble offers would be welcome. If you would like some pics just drop me an email to resistor_uk69@hotmail.com (make subject westfield so it doesnt dissapear into junk mail)

Kind regards a very sad Jim

Ps im sure you would let me come to meetings in my new car wouldn't you  :bangshead:

Hi,

I had this problem with my local council during the build of my old Tiger R6, (Yes I know), however the council wrote and asked all the residents in my road if there were any objections to the placement of speed humps (Cushions) along its entire length!

I wrote a very stern letter back explaining that I was a kit car owner and the ride height of the vehicle was some 25mm lower that the height of the proposed speed humps and suggested that if they went ahead with their plans then they would be restricting my freedom of choice in respect to vehicle ownership and with my current car I would have no alternative other than to drive the car along the pavement to exit and enter my road.

The council still went ahead with their plans but elected to leave me a way in from one end of the road without me having to negotiate any of those nasty cushions that now populate the rest of it.

The object of the lesson is you get nothing in this world unless you ask. So just ask, you might just be surprised with the response. I was.

hang on that is the poorest excuse for selling a car ever heard    :p

I have not encountered a speed bump yet that I cannot get my Westy over and I have a lowered floor - oh and we have more speed bumps than you can shake a stick at around here

keep it if you really want it

I'm with Cleggy on this one, if you want to sell, sell, don't be afraid!  ;)

They built speed bumps on the estate where I live half way through my build five or six years ago. I raised the suspension a gnats all round, just to be safe, and the car sails over them, no problem.

Did you ever get your previous grounding issues sorted out BTW, and did you find out what your ride height is set to? (Just wondering if you've got some underlying issues making the problem worse for you   )

I have speed humps near my house but can go in between them so ok there, the other type around here are the ones you can drive up onto so they are also ok. But, near a friends house in Solihull they have narrow humps that run all the way across the road, all over the place, and the only way I could get anywhere near the house was to put two wheels on the pavement.

Depends on the humps I suppose.

Well there are several roads near me that I can't use due to the placement of speed cushions.  I have written to the council but they couldn't be less interested.

My problem is that I have 50mm ground to sump clearance and putting a wheel either side of a cushion puts the sump directly in line with the highest part of the cushion.  On my road they have put cushions on each side of the road but I can drive down the centre line of the road and have the sump in clear air, the closed roads have the same cushion layout with an island and bollard on the centre line so basically it's no go.
