Mark Stanton Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 QUOTE how about we get rid of Hammond and replace with Suzi Perry well said Mr G but can she also stay on the Gadget Show Would like to see at least something on "normal" affordable for Mr Average cars Quote
Fat Albert Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Week ending 25/7, BARB had TG's audience at 6.6m, more than double any other BBC2 programme and the 7th most watched programme acroos the Beeb ITV had 8 programmes with a bigger audience, 5 x Coronation Street & 3 x Emmerdale There is as much chance of the Beeb dropping/changing the show as there is of Gordon Brown's memoirs being entitled "How I Raised Spending On The NHS From £35bn to £110bn Without Anyone Noticing" Quote
jeff oakley Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 They will change it slightly but it does get huge audience figures and more importantly it sells around the world. I would get rid of SIARPC as then we would not have to see fawning over someone who is plugging a book. How about "ordinary person in an extraoridnary car" where someone gets to thrash a Ferrari or such, someone who has done good for others for no reward. How about celebrating British car makers success, Ultima, GD Cobra and T70, Westfield, Bristol etc instead of ridiculing them as "men in sheds" James May, let him do articles a bit more educational instead of making it seem bad to have knowledge. Still have the specials as they do make good TV for all types. Let them be a bit more edgy with things like "why is Brake a charity when they are self serving muppets"? "Why does the RAC foundation hate cars so much" There is so much that could be interesting to so many and still not screw it up badly. I like the banter they have but sometimes it is so scripted. When they did the Britcar race, the true freindship comes out which is much better than the false insults. Finally I would by Hammond a mirror so he could see what a prat he looks with his hair and the wooden beads for a necklace. Apart from this it is perfect Quote

Nic Ayre Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 in episode 1/8/10 on sunday when they took 3 classic british sports cars back to their roots, i beleive a lotus, tvr & jenson, jeremy was commenting on hammonds lotus elan,s reg number being an anagram of LIAR, did anyone notice jeremy's jenson spelt CTU 131N It's the Beeb, thats why they didn't spell it out. Perfect number plate for him though To be honest I think the whole show has gone well past it's best before date. It would be nice to see someone from the show having a sensible go at grass roots motorsport, with factual information on joining local motor clubs and how to get involved in proper local motorsport. They could also do an occasional build/rebuild feature with classic and kit cars. TG in its current format I can take or leave, but if it carries on like it is I am in danger of doing some DIY instead. Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 how about bringing on a topless female co-presenter or is that being sexist to blondes? She could be a brunette... Quote
nikpro Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 ...........Stop making the assumption it's a CAR Show! It's entertainment based around cars - if you want it to be like 5th gear then watch 5th gear.........very few others do compared to Top Gear. The viewing figures for Top Gear outstrip it's rivals and people who aren't interested in Cars watch it - it ain't going to change it's format much. Quote
pistonbroke Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 watch 5th gear , are you barking mad ? with that constant screeching noise ( and no, I dont mean the tyres ) Quote
CedricTheBrave Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Top and 5th gears are two entirely different shows and I quite like both of them. and when star in a car thingy is pulling big names as it has then the Beeb won't bin it Quote
lippydave Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 watch 5th gear , are you barking mad ? with that constant screeching noise ( and no, I dont mean the tyres ) Yup Tiff can be an irritating git.... It did make me laugh when they had some totty on the show as passenger ballast a while back.... Tiff came across as an irritating perma-single, don't understand women, kind-of-sex-pest.... Unlike Clarkson who comes across as a fawning creepy- crawly kind of sex-pest... At least 5th gear ditched the one with the irritating perm and that Tim Shaw t**t... Yes they do still have VBH's screeching, preening into the camera, although I think she should get a new stylist.....She doesn't seem to realise that she's just the token bird driver.... Best bits of 5th gear for me are the Plato vs Needell duels around a track like a pair of kids.... Quote
DITCH Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 "JUST FOR THE MOANER'S"!!!!'''' Don't care , love TopGear .......Captain Slow is my Idol !!! And to really rub it in..... Got 3 tickets to see Top gear Live in Nov!!!!!! '''' Ditch Quote
windy Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 I'd like to see something on: Group B rally cars Fangio Gerry Marshall History of British touring cars James Hunt Vintage trials (or any type of trial) London to Sydney rally Le Mans Land speed record cars to include thrust SSC & Bloodhound Blubird K7 restoration Great british engineering projects, Hurricane, Spitfire, Concorde. The surviving parts of the British car industry. Historic rallying today There is a lot of stuff here that deserves some publicity to the wider audience, especially Bloodhound as I know they are struggling for funding. Might attract some sponsors. Also there needs to be something to spark some enthusiasm in our younger viewers who might be encouraged to pursue a career in engineering. The senna bit was a start - I think the above could be covered individually in a similar sort of way. Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Leave it alone I like it just the way it is thanks. Most fun on the box. Beats most of the other crap on the box hands down. Not much thats makes me really laugh out loud. Quote
