Thanks Norman I will give it another try when I am over in June. Even the French don,t seem to know how to work the pumps as there  always seem to be a couple stood around scratching their heads snd trying to get fuel. Luckily there are still a few self serve in Antibes but getting fewer every year.

I only use the super market stations as they're about 3-5 cents cheaper per litre than the garage ones. They switch to card operation during 120 to 140 and when the supermarket is closed. They're normally attended during normal opening hours.
