The thing that got me is that he was asking us to rev much higher that I thought was nec. ???

Normal for Combe is 4.5k revs (well for me anyway) which I think is why everyone was having issues... ??? Cars around me were asked to rev to 5.2k

Meh

First job, Mick, I'm sorry about the car, what can I say I ran out of talent (if there ever was any)but i don't think fitting in 32" jeans would have made much difference, (though the seat might have faired better!)

Must say a big thanks to everyone for all the help & concern yesterday, espesically Mick, Justin & Tom, none of whom appeared to want to kill me when they saw the state of the car!!!

I have to say thanks to the Marshalls, rescue crew, Doctor and recovery crew who did a great job of getting the car back where we wanted it without inflicting more damage.

As for the noise police, after passing the noise test Garry, Barry & myself where all re-tested following the first practice, as "one of us was a bit loud". All passed, but when he tested the induction noise on the Honda at 6k rpm, the meter read 120db, significantly higher than the 105db limit, which is a planning restriction. He did say that he does noise tests at all meetings and last year only 2 of the 1500 cars he looked at didn't get to run.

Other than the obvious, we had a fun day. It's a long way round Coombe & even with 3 goes at some corners I still got them hideously wrong!! Hopefully be back to tame the beast though.

Should see you all at Croft, for the battle to continue!

As it says in the regs, it's 105db at 3/4 max revs, which is lower than normal sprints. One of the downsides of the circuit, but otherwise great circuit. :D:D:D

I just wasn't anywhere near brave enough on the brakes into Quarry and Tower :bangshead: but was pleased to see 120 on the speedo going into Folly :t-up:

All,

Hope you all had a good day at Combe yesturday, you seemed to be enjoying yourselves.

The rain caused some interesting track conditions that unfortunately caught a few of you out - hope the damage is not to bad. We had to work hard to recover the time after the rain and incidents, however the second timed runs were dry and good cooperation from the competitors (WSCC boys in particular) allowed us to speed up proceedings.

It was a good oppertunity also to put faces to boardroom names and have a look at the cars usually only seen in your avatars.

Hope to see the WSCC championship back again next year, I might even get mine out of the garage and join you.

Just got home from a great weekend, must be the luck of the draw because I had as near as dam it a dry practice run, a very wet 1st timed and a great dry 2nd run, pity I threw it away with a quick spin at camp :(  but kept 2 wheels on to continue  :)

Yes the organisation could have been a bit slicker but they had problems to contend with and Castle Combe is always operating under protest from the locals hence the stringent time noise restrictions, limits are about the same as Goodwood.

I thought the circuit was awesome, loved the two and three quarter lap (more for some) practice run.

Well done to Nick for getting it onto the calendar.

Funniest thing of the day, must have been Bunny's extended exhaust exiting right next to his right ear, wish I had had a camera. Don't think noise scrutineer and Bunny got on  :bangshead:

Got any piccys  :D  :D  :p  :p

Agreed, great day, although I'm glad I wasn't stuck in the start line marshalling area when the cloudburst came! Me and Mrs H were sat in my tintop with the tonneau on the Westie, thank goodness!

Tim P was 7 secs ahead after run 1. Not sure of the run 2 times, but Bunny seemed to be going well as did Barry and Paul Morcom.

Was going well when I was near Tommo and slow elsewhere!  Though happy with my first outing in Class F with only 15 careful road miles in the new car before the event.  The car showed some great potential, another gear would have been handy (I only had 4) as hitting the rev limiter at 118mph before Tower, Camp and half way between Camp Corner and Folly didn't help my final time.  Set up should be good for hills and shorter sprints - can't wait for Gurston/Silverstone weekend.

Many thanks to all that helped me get through the sound test; at one stage I thought I too was going to have my exhaust 'bunny'd'.

Well done to everyone, some good times from old and new; should be a great season.

See you at Gurston,

Paul

Well done everyone who went. A long fast circuit in the wet on your first outing of the year takes some bravery when you are all rusty    :t-up:
