Blatman.........It seems to me that it is you who has missed the point again, ie my comment about Brendon Finedon.

Firstly i dont know why you thought you needed to PM me regarding an open debate, so im answering on the op as you can see.

I did not and have not taken your comments personally, nor did i think you accused  my son of anything.  The point you missed was that normal kids do not behave like this and DONT put themselves in this situation, so the chances of our sons getting shot are zero. Yes they do things wrong and make mistakes, even great big ones but in the Martin case the two ****s who rightly got shot consider it a way of life to con, steal, and fight their way through life as taught to them by their parents. And i believe that society in general finds this unacceptable as i do and also by the amount of people agreeing with me on the post.

As said on the post all the rights are for the crooks not the victims, it seems that its ok for the dross in our society to do what they like and the victims must stay victims and not say a or do a word.

And as a piece of advice to anyone confronted by a burglar make sure you shoot them in the face and not in the back. And dont worry about the parents being upset.

These scum cause untold heartache to thousands of people every year, so please dont ask me to give sympathy to the parents when the s**t hits the fan.

Oh and one thing i did take as offensive in your post was the link you set up, with the words "try and work out" so i will accept your apology given in the PM for that.

Cheers

HB.

In the small village where I live there are some local travellers.

They go into the local co op shop and the parents distract the shop keeper by buying cigarettes or the like and changing their mind etc whilst their 7 or 8 year old kids walk straight out of the shop with a basket full of stuff !!!

Hard to believe if you did not see it. I doubt the police would do anything !!

My point in a nutshell.

So why should we worry about what the parents think or if they are distraught when the kids get shot.

Its their way of life and culture that put them into conflict.

I wanted to have the debate without turning it into another "Armygate" 12 pager, and because I revealed some personal information that is not for public discussion.

I am sorry that you have been the victim of crime. I hope they are caught and you have the chance to see the scumbags punished.

housebeautician - you are very extreme in your views! (It's quite alarming that you think it is ok for someone to commit murder for a property offence  ??? )

I don't think most people would want a society of vigilantes where the law is taken into their own hands  ???

Secondly - most kids growing up do commit crime at some point.

Execution for property theft I agree is a bit OTT but why cant we have some kind of punishment as a deterrent? Bring back the birch or public stocks, I am sick of watching police programs where you have 3 police cars probably a helicopter some brain dead yob endangering Joe public and the punishment.......none or perhaps a stern talking too but park in the wrong place and whallop. Some estates are employing their own security guards, its only a short jump from vigilantes, people will only take so much sh** and then the worm turns

Trouble is these days that there is no real punishment, slap wrists and a fine, its not just about them stealing property, its not just stuff. The after effects of their actions are never recorded or reported and cause such harm to people.

When this type of vermin get caught and let off, all it does is send a message to them that they can do as they like when they like.

Regarding shooting burglars, i am not really extreme in my views and dont really think we should shoot them all, it would be nice if the law actually did punish these scum, but people have had enough of the inaction of the courts and if a few more of these thieves did get shot maybe it might make them think twice.

Is it right that victims of crime should just not say anything or do anything when the law says  "There is nothing we can do"

I have seen first hand the aftermath of a burglary, if you could have seen the state of the lady in question, it was dreadful, she was frightened to leave her living room and had to move house in the end.

Slater actually made fair comment "Bring back the birch" that would make a few of them think. It would be a lot better than giving them a badge of honour asbo.

More and more people are sick of this type of assault on their lives and so maybe vigilantes are the way forward. Hopefully not.

What does need to happen is further clarification of the law to say what is allowed or acceptable.

Anyway this has gone to far from my original post and i thank everyone for their thoughts.

I must admit I dont agree with vigilante style justice, although if somebody broke into my house and threatend me or my missus and kids god help them - there would be a point where I would be out of control with anger - and I think this is what the more extreme points that are being made are getting at

proper sentances for criminals would be a good start

set term sentances that double/triple each time caught - for instance

1 car theft - warning and fine and community service

2nd time caught - 3 months prison

3rd time - 9 months

If they had an actual understanding of the term that they would next have to face if they were to re-commit they may just think again - and if they are too thick to realise the consequences then at least they will be off the streets for a good time

etc etc etc

goverment to advertise those sentances on tv/papers for the most common crimes -

fed up with seeing serial offenders that have stolen more cars than most people have owned and they are still out on the streets- its almost a joke when you watch these cop programmes on tv and the amount of times they know the offender just by the shape of the back of their head or even their driving style - and when the cops do catch them they see the same person in another stolen motor the following weekend - depressing for us all

I am quite sure the good hard working police force are driven to dispair at how little the courts punish the scum within this country - the answer is unfortunately to pay more taxes for more prisons, of which I would be very happy to pay my share

I have been a victim of car crime three times, one stolen car and two smashed windows and unfortunately none of the offenders were ever caught, but if you asked a local bobby who it was they would tell you it would be one of half a dozen usual suspects, so why are they on the streets still? - sumtin aint working right

and it aint the coppers fault, although it may be the lack of them - but the sentances have got to be stiffened first so the scum in this country know exactly where they stand if caught

my frupenny bits worth
