Scottish Bloke
What a weekend, a tale of good and bad, the bad being very bad Having vowed never to compete at this weekend 4 years ago, then going back every year since, it obviously has a certain appeal Llandow is a great little sprint circuit, normally very well organised and is up there with the best as a social event. Llys y fran is also a brilliant hill but has suffered through organisational issues in the past. For various reasons yesterday was no different, what a $?&!*&$ disaster Timed runs were due to start at 2.00pm, we were in batch two, and were called to the pre start queue at about half two, unfortunately the timing gear failed, we waited there for about an hour and a half, mean time the track was drying and no one could get back to the paddock to change tyres EVENTUALLY, we were sent to the top paddock and pre start line, where we were held til after 5.00pm We were visited by an official who said only one timed run would be possible due to time restrictions, TBH I think most of us had given up hope by that point anyway. At 5.20pm we got started again, Hurrah, unfortunately the third car away had a "big off" - best wishes to the driver who required medical attention. Competition then had to be cancelled as the medical officer had to accompany the injured driver to hospital. So as Nick has already said, quite a lot of us never got a timed run and as I now understand the event was cancelled? £160 worth of diesel and a very p****d off 7 hour drive home, I got in at 3.00 am this morning, lucky we don't have a cat!!!! Terry, Matt and Del competed on Saturday with Matt taking the honours by the skin of his teeth as I remember. I need to vent steam Understandable and done in a factual way, no problems at all:D I have heard some good news about the event. The Driver who was injured and taken to Hospital was later released all OK unfortunatley his car may not get the same prognosis
Scottish Bloke
Good News Nick, the car was sadly very badly damaged, as we know twisted metal doesn't count as long as the folks inside are ok. real shame it was a very clean Mk 1 Escort

Tigger
Bad luck all No doubt you will get some £ back You reckon? Glad to hear the driver is ok though
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison
I would say yes. They are surely insured against this kind of thing and should pass on the bill to the timing company who should take the responsibility

Annie
Have to agree with Richard, Llamdow was a great event, racing as well as social but Llys Y Fran had its problems. I was in the first group to go over for the first timed run at 2.00pm. Some cars took their run and semed to be timed correctly, but as problems developed two or three people had to run twice to get a time recorded. At the end there were about 12 of us on the other side, unfortunately with very little information. It appears the timing system was having a complete hissy fit, and we waited for the best part of 1.5 hours while they tried various things, finally running a land line from the start up to the finish. At that point the remaining cars from the first bunch were able to make a timed run and the announcement was made that there would only be one timed run for everyone. I understand s**t happens, but was very surprised that there wasn't a back up in place to minimise down-time. As far as I know the people in the batch I was in - A,B,C & D, had a timed run, although I think we all went home disappointed that we were unable to take advantage of the improving conditions. I hadn't realised that someone from the second group had gone off, but as Richard has already said 'twisted metal doesn't count as long as the folks inside are ok'. Like Richard said, good and bad weekend - good, very good and bad very bad! Annie
Matt Seabrook
Hi Tel Matt pipped me by 0.02s! How much closer can this get? Delboy Thats quite close we have had one of our local sprints won by 0.01 seconds on a 110 second run before now. I cant even imagine how much 0.02 seconds would look like in car lengths
