Rob Hunter - Club Secretary
1 - 1990 Nova 1.2 that cost a fortune damp start and had its own version of abs due to warped front discs 😂. Used to see 115mph (private road 😉) on its optimistic speedo.. Probably why the discs warped! 2 - 1989 Nova 1.0 slow (very) but reliable 3 - 1986 VW Polo even slower than the Nova and had the worlds worst headlights, had to drive by braille in the dark 😎 4 - 1986 XR2 on coilovers and big alloys, loved it but the tin worm ate it 😪 5 - 1990 XR3i only had it briefly but was great fun, wish I had it now! 6 - 1993 Fiesta 1.8d slow but didn't need first gear unless it was on a hill 😂 7 - 1990 Renault 21 GTS got rid quick when 5th started whining like a hungry teenager 8 - 1992 Citroen ZX Advantage slow but a great chassis 9 - 1994 306 XRD accelerated like a glacier but handled brilliantly 10 - 1996 Rover 618i don't ask! 11 - 1998 Renault Safrane inherited the awful thing from my boss in a weird exchange for a promotion so he could get a new A6 😂. Loads of equipment, most of it didn't work! 12 - 1998 Mondeo 1.8 LX 13 - 2001 Mondeo 2.0 Ghia my first brand new car 14 - 2001 Lexus IS200 Sport, drove this 100 miles home in 5th as I hadn't realised it had a 6th! 😳. Sweet engine with zero torque 15 - 2002 BMW 3 series coupe 16 - 2003 Zafira GSI turbo needed space for 3 kids and a Labrador. Surprisingly quick for a bus! 17 - 2003 E220cdi comfy barge 18 - 2006 A6 2.0 tdi less comfy barge 19 - 2010 VW CC GT, a passat in a posh frock. Better than that A6 in every way. 20 - 2013 BMW 330d, 50 mpg and 0-60 in 5.6 sec... Witch craft! 21 - 2007 Mondeo Titanium X cheap barge when self employed 22 - 2016 A5 Sportback nice looking but boring 23 - 2003 Mini Cooper S JCW. Stripped, prepped and tuned as a track car, absolute money pit but good fun 24 - the westie! As a trainee manager in the early 90's I had to look after the company car pool for a couple of years so got to thrash a load of great motors including 325i E30, 540i, Cavalier SRi and GSi, late XJS 6.0 V12, XJ6 4.0, 405 Mi16, Nissan 300ZX, early non supercharged XJR etc, I'm still amazed I didn't throw any of them into a ditch! Sadly my better half has a more interesting car history than me... 1275gt, early Swift Gti, Holden Commodore, Lancer Evo IV, mk3 Golf GTi cabrio, Puma 1.7 etc and she couldn't care less about cars! 😂

Came primer colour on the front and yellow on the back. Quality control not good in those days! Let alone if you had the bad luck of buying a Friday afternoon car.
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
For most of my life, I’ve believed I got really (violently) travel sick travelling in the back of cars. - to the extent of needing those re-hydrating salts replenishing powder mixes from the chemist, on long trips! after years of this when I was young, family just made me travel in the front passenger seat everywhere when we went out by car, and I was fine. I was in my forties and still wary of ending up ill as a back seat passenger, when it slowly dawned on me, that my illness had only ever been as a child, riding in one of the (seemingly) never ending supply of Morris bl**dy Marinas my dad insisted on buying. The worst being an aqua blue 1.8 TC Coupe! Awful, awful cars. Still get my leg pulled on family trips about it, even today!
Jim RS
Good reason to get "shotgun seat"😀 Marinas were ok as long as road was straight, perfectly smooth and you didn't have to stop, mine was brilliant at making straight roundabouts🥴

My child hood best friends girlfriend, when we were all late teens had one. It’s propshafts rear UJ fell off the gearbox end of the shaft while they were on the motorway heading to Southport one weekend. Span them right off the carriageway, over the hard shoulder and down the embankment at the side of the road, where it promptly fell over in a ditch (they were fine, I should add). My comparison at the time was a 1500 Maxi which I traded in and the Marina was much better😱. Maxi was never dangerous though, wouldn't go fast enough with upgrades on motorway needing 3rd gear😖.
