The reduction in frontal area is negligable, and bear in mind that the air that would have been disturbed by the larger lights will now be disturbed instead by the screen/rear arches, so it may actually be worse aerodynamically overall.

A seven is never going to be a particularly clean car aerodynamically, and besides where's the fun in going in a straight line!

Right, I've got my M&Ps, but I haven't got my car. Also, I'm useless at electricity. Like has already been said, 5 wires. Green I gather is the earth. It is at 9.00 o'clock looking at the back of the unit.

I've then got white and blue coming out of the back of the main bulb unit. Which is full beam live, and which is dipped? Or do I just have to trial wire up, and work it out from trial and error?

Then at the back of the sidelight (they call it a pilot light) I've got a black wire and a brown wire. Is one of those earth and the other live, or what?

Does anyone know what the corresponding wires are in the standard Westfield wiring loom?

Lastly, what are the best sort of connectors to use to connect the short M&P wires to the wires in the Westfield loom? And do they need some sort of water-proof sleeve? As I said, a bit of a numpty with electrics, so be gentle!!

Here's how I did mine,

Green and Black(Earth) = Black on loom

White(dip beam feed) = Blue/Red on loom

Blue(main beam feed) = Blue/White on loom

Brown(side lamp feed) = Red on loom

Thanks PeP,

In fact, am I being a numpty here? Will the plug at the end of the loom be the same as the plug inside the M&Ps, in which case it will be obvious once I get my car back home and can take my factory lights off, and unplug them?

anyone got any thoughts on these, available in non rusting plastic or metal...

look like they should do the job, so am tempted to try them - h4 / with black plastic

i still have older rusty chrome big jobbies which deserve a new life as plant pots :-)

- and a friend with an old landie who can take the reflectors of my hands in exchange for beer tokens...
