RobC Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I don't go out much in the dark, but when I have been out the party candles at the front aren't really up to the job... What does everyone else do... Is there a brighter candle than can be used or do you all just not go out after ark Previously been told that brighter candles would melt the lenses Cheers for any help Quote

RobC Posted March 30, 2009 Author Posted March 30, 2009 they work fine... well full beam is sooo much better than dipped... which is like there's a small child hanging onto the front and's blown them out will double check again chears Quote
congorobot Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Don't really drive mine after dark partly because the lights are poor. Maybe I just need to eat more carrots! Quote
Bean Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 My M&P's are excellent at night, suggest you may have a wiring/earth issue as others have mentioned Quote
pete g Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 wiring is not standard leon did a diagram that is correct on here some where Quote
polly_x Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I had the same problem with mine for 2 years! Attacked the problem head on at the weekend to resolve. I bet your wired up wrong (mine were) Looking at the rear of a bulb with the connectors so that they are at 9, 12 and 3 o clock (12 being the horizontal one) make sure your earth is on the 9 o clock connector. That will fix it. Mine were so dim and did not light very quick but this solved it and they are now like normal lights. Quote
dhutch Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 They do have to be wired up right, and it has been know it seams for them to be done wrong. - Five wires, earth for the two bulbs (combined headlight and sidelight) then live feed for for the three (main, dipped, side). And as said if you wire 12v between the dipped and main feeds you well get a very dim glow. - Im also not massivly impressed with mine, and a voltmeter confirmed i was geting around 10v accross them (engine running) having lost about 1.5 on the earth return and about 3 on the +ve (measured against the batter terminals). So im planning to look further into that but in the mean time some posh xenon gas bulbs have improved it a little (phillips x-treme power). I also find theres a hole between dipped and main, so you can eather adjust main to be in the trees and dipped about right, or dipped down by the end of the nose, and main about right. But maybe thats just me? Daniel Quote
PeP Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 They look exactly like my dominator ones and they also have 5 wires. I can't say I've been out a lot at night, but when I have, the lights have been fine. Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I've had the same lights on the V8 for the last 5 years and they were a bit dark but changed the bulbs out for some best buy(auto express) ultra Phillips bulbs that work a treat. + Rob u must realise when you come from the standard lights to the Torch size h/lights of the M&P you are vastley reducing the reflective nature of the light so expect a huge drop in performance. The only thing I can suggest is get a decent set of bulbs and eat lots of carrots Buzz Quote
dhutch Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Rightly or wrongly i have always assumed the "Dominator" and the "M&P's" are one of the same thing? Although ive never had a pair side to side in bits. Daniel Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 You're probably right Dan but they'll be all made by the same company in a sweatshop in the 3rd world... you know Wales Buzz Quote
Fent Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I had the same problem with mine until i checked how I had wired them up. Once I changed the wiring to match the previous posting on here they were much brighter. Please note that I actually found that my wiring colours differed to those on the example on the post. Double check by confirming which colour goes to which bulb connection and you should be ok. Quote
