Canon 350D Camera

Recommended Posts

I have had my camera for a while now but haven't used it much.  I had downloaded the system disc that came with the camera on my old PC which was XP based and had no problems.  Even giving the camera settings for images taken was very useful for me.  I don't get that now.

My new(ish) PC is Vista based and after downloading the camera disc software, it appears incompatible in terms of not letting the camera download in Zoom Browser, cannot get in to RAW images, camera settings etc.  I can download images using the PC software but that’s all.

I note the disc is for Windows, 98/ME/2000/Windows XP.  It makes me think the software needed is Vista specific.  Can anyone give some guidance on this please.

By the way, I have been on the Canon website for updates but in truth, I haven’t a clue of what to download!

Thanks for that Mark, very useful.

Did you keep the Canon Digital Camera Solutions Disc v12.2 software on your laptop before you downloaded the link or remove it before downloading?

Thanks again.

I will load the original disc back on to my PC then download the Zoom Browser.

If you here a big bang somewhere in Measham, that would be me hitting the wrong button!!

I’ll let you know how I get on.

Im sure all will be OK , the worst part is navigating the Canon website .

Good Cameras though  :t-up:

Still not right.  The PC will not recognise the camera.  I have tried changing the settings in "Communication" from Print/PTP to PC Connection but no joy.

Slightly frustrated now!

Hi Bob.

I know that it'll be no help but I have the same camera and software and it all installed in Vista without any problems.

If the software went in OK could it be something to do with the camera?

Chaz.

OK.  I am downloading the operating disc to my old PC (XP) and see if it will download images.

Watch this space!!!

I think there may be a software conflict with all the downloading going on, especially with a second install of an XP disc on a Vista machine. The other possibility is a drive letter mis-match, which sometimes happens with USB equipment after an "upgrade". I've had XP SP3 ruin USB connectivity 'cos of that. It's easily fixed though so don't worry just yet.

If it were me, I'd go to Add/Remove programs and remove all the Canon software and anything else Canon related, then restart the machine. Then load the disc *once*. Then do the Canon download from their web site. Make sure you actually read any dialogue boxes that open  rather than just pressing OK when you get them, and it should go OK. If it works as required, good. If not, get back to us (me) and I'll see what we missed.

And there are other options to using Zoom to view photos in RAW or JPeg. I use Microsofts Image Viewer and I quite like it...

Sorry, not checked through all the links, but have you downloaded and installed the WIA driver & latest RAW Codec?

Hi Blatters & GM and all the other good guys helping.

I have uninstalled all Canon files (programmes..... be b******d if I know what they are called) and will re-install.  I have managed to upload images on my old PC (and I forgot how slow it is!!)

Bring back XP1 roll film!

Re-installation about to start!

Just for my sanity... are you now loading the disc on to an XP machine or a Vista machine?
