pgh Posted March 14, 2008 Author Posted March 14, 2008 All you need is an AA card. Push it round the corner from mine, tell 'em the car you just bought has shat itself and you need recovering... we'll go to the pub while we're waiting... they'll either tow it or fit a new alternator gratis of labour costs. Can't see a downside for the life of me... Cunning I should check my policy, seem to remember they only cover you on cars of < x years in age. Not sure what x is though! P
pgh Posted March 14, 2008 Author Posted March 14, 2008 Also consider buying a car that is 15 years or older and qualifies for classic car insurance. You can get European car cover included for free & up to 5 named drivers on the policy for free providing they are over 25 years old. That's useful advice. If Blatman's car is on an F then it's getting on for 20 years old. So I was in my third year of primary school when that Escort rolled off the line!

pgh Posted March 15, 2008 Author Posted March 15, 2008 Skids - what sort of Peugeot? Is it an estate?
Martin Keene Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 Just bought this for the crumball rally. 100 notes, 55k from new, all mots since day 1, brand new exhaust & alternator, 12 months mot, 8 months tax. There's better cars about than snotty old escorts!!!!! Also consider buying a car that is 15 years or older and qualifies for classic car insurance. You can get European car cover included for free & up to 5 named drivers on the policy for free providing they are over 25 years old. Where the friking hell did you steal that from...
skids Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 will get the details on monday and a picture if you send an email address
Blatman Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 OK, pics coming up... The car is indeed on an F plate, although I've obscured the reg number for obvious reasons... OK, N/S 3/4 view. Nore slight bash to wing/door area at the cill. Doesn't affect the door or anything though. And due to the rain, the colour looks OK It's actually more pink than red on the front and rear N/S wings... Next we have the fornt O/S 3/4 view. Nothing wrong here... Now we have the drivers side interior shot... Then on to the O/S rear 3/4 view. Note tank tape concealing a small bumper scuff issue... Now we have the clocks showing the genuine 47ish thousand miles... Rear interior shot... back seats have almost never been sat in/on... And finally, in the boot... So there we are. If PGH wants it, it's there for the taking, and it'll last a 'k*n sight longer than Skids Pug I can promise you. It's MOT'd 'til August or thereabouts too, so if you tax it, you can use it... If PGH doesn't want it, then it's just plain for sale to anyone else...
JeffC Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 hey blatters sounds like a bargain, it must have £40 worth of diesel in it , Ps. have you checked the price of scrap of late, guy I know is offering £40 for any car collected ,I thought he was being generous till I found out he is weighing them in for scrap, he told me at the current prices a citroen saxo is worth £120 in scrap... man could do the charity run and scrap that owld escort, with weight of that lump of pigiron in the front , it could be worth £180
pgh Posted March 15, 2008 Author Posted March 15, 2008 Blatman - wow that's in amazing condition! I'll send the pics over to my colleagues and let you know. There might be a slight delay as one is in India and the other Australia, although I believe they have net access. Thanks for taking the trouble to take the photos. Paul
Blatman Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Blatman - wow that's in amazing condition! I'll send the pics over to my colleagues and let you know. There might be a slight delay as one is in India and the other Australia, although I believe they have net access. Thanks for taking the trouble to take the photos. No probs... And I've just realised... if you look at the rear 3/4 view, check the N/S rear wing, you'll just about see how badly the paint has faded. That's not a trick of the light, it really is a bit pinky/milky looking... hey blatters sounds like a bargain, it must have £40 worth of diesel in it Yeah... I'll soon change that though. My Mundano is an oil burner
pgh Posted March 17, 2008 Author Posted March 17, 2008 Or if we do go for the car (awaiting an Australian response) then we can buy the fuel off you separately. As long as the car itself costs <=£100 then we're ok
Blatman Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Car is as advertised, £99... I'll leave the fuel in it. I'm not a northern pikey like Cooper...
pgh Posted March 17, 2008 Author Posted March 17, 2008 You're a very generous man Still not heard from Aus. I'm afraid, will keep you appraised. Paul
Blatman Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 No worries. You have first dibs, and it ain't going anywhere 'cos the alternator is goosed...
RWDKurt Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Good luck with this deal guys. I have to say I'm slightly jealous, as we need a similar car for the same reason. My biggest concern is not finding a car, but being a sentimental fool and tight-A*** northerner I'm going to find it very hard to dump it!
