Ive remembered now why I packed in running a year ago, last couple of days Im suffering with knee aching and back ache, been hobbling around like an 80 year old   :(   going out for a walk tommorow again with the kids and I will do some more jogging this week but if knee and back persists I will have to think about trying a gym and doing some cardio  :(

Mark.. where did all that come from , wouldnt have had you as a keep fit guru  ???  :suspect:  :suspect:

I was advised by my Chiropracter not to run and go cycling instead

Can somebody tell me when this lark starts to get addictive!!! :t-up:

yes, when you have to tell youself to stop rather than have to tell yourself to keep going!

Still can't break below 13st, despite no alcohol, small portions and rare, if any, treats...seems I am destined to have to start early morning jogs when I should be    .

read some posts on here regarding dieting and losing weight. The first 28 years of my almost 40 year life my weight was up and down from 20stone to 11stone.  I have kept my weight stable for the last 11 years. What was the secret you ask? Not short term dieting and no exercise but balanced nutirtion and regular exercise. Do not get hung up on fast loss, anything over 2lbs per week is down to your body canabilising its own tissues such as muscle. Muscle is active tissue, that is it needs energy even when not used, so any reduction in muscle mass means your body needs less calories! (decreased Basal Metabolic Rate)  Yes its a catch 22.

It is best to eat a well balanced diet and do regular exercise. If you do resistance training then it will increase you muscle mass meaning this will in turn increase your BMR. Moderate Resistance training also strenthens bones and joints (Jeff).

I am not saying dieting does not work but it has its place.

If you are obese then diet but if you are classed as overweight then eat well balanced meals and a regular exercise plan and stick to it.

It is also better to eat 6 smaller meals rather than 3 large ones.

How tall are you? Do you work in an office or more active?

I shoud also say it is fat weight that counts. I am 5"8' and 13 stone but my waist is 32".

rub yourself all over with steak and jump in the kennels that should do the trick

All this BMI bullsh*t doesn't help nowadays. :bangshead:

I know lots of people, me included who've never been within the so called healthy range.

Even when I was rock climbing, kick boxing and running I was still above a BMI of 25 :suspect:
