Managed my first run today in between the hail showers, was quite surprised (gutted) just how far I got in 10 mins, it was ok on the way out but on the way back I had 2 pretty steep inclines to do.

Still alive though.

P.s. not sure my pace could really be described as running though towards the end but it was faster than walking.

You've got to start somewhere though.  :p  :t-up:

Well done mate, I will be out on my third session later this eve ( i like to wait until it's dark so people do not see me dying).

Not sure yet if it is going to be any easier than the first two sessions.

Im keeping my fingers crossed.

well that was hard , cockness had me starting week 2 1 run early. managed 5 x  2mins with minute intervals, and then 1min40 (uphill) and the last was 1.30 and I then was home thank God !!!

that was hard, legs aching towards the 2min mark, If I had a heart monitor on I reckon that would be a high reading. going to get some batterys for it. dont fancy being deed in a hedge back somewhere.

will look back at this when I win the marathon this year and laugh              :suspect:

Just did run number three of week one. Not as brave as Jeff so stuck to schedule.

Glad I did though.

Running the 60 seconds did not feel any easier especially towards the end. I did however, notice a difference in my recovery rate when walking the 90 seconds.

On my first run I hadn't even got my breath back from the fisrt min of running before I started the second min. I found today that after the 90 second interval I almost felt ready to start running again.

Dunno, it could all be in me head.

Wednesday see's me up the game and move up to level two. Also gonna get on the scales again wed morning to see if any of that christmas exuberance has gone.

Up the joggers !!!!

Go on lads, I'm proud of you  :t-up:  I'd join in if I 'adn't torn a calf muscle playing 5-a-side...

Well I'm not a Westie owner but I know one or two and lurk around here from time to time so can I join in?

I've never done any regular exercise for far too many years but I think this thread could finally get me motivated.

I'm crack on 6 feet tall and I weigh 85kg (13st 5lb) according to the machine at work.

I've power walked for 20-30 minutes the last couple of days and I'm off to buy some proper trainers one day this week.

I’m rubbish at doing things on my own so I’ll pop in from time to time to see how everyone is getting on and to keep myself motivated.

Jeff, where exactly is that you went walking with the wife and bairns. It looks like the sort of place me and my young ‘un would enjoy.

Just up the road, head up weardale through Wolsingham into Frosterly, as you go through you will see a left turn down a bank towards Hillend follow that road for about 3 miles over the cattle grid and Bollyhope is on the left, we go up in the summer , kids run about and play in the stream etc.  :t-up:  good westy roads too      :D

I can jog on the beach with the dog! Up until three years ago was still doing half marathon and 10k runs but I've let it slip again... So 5 a-side in work seemed like a good option 'til I pulled the calf muscle. Funny thing was it was over 40s versus young uns the week before Xmas and of the over 40s, I pulled a calf, another tore ligaments and another chipped a bone in his elbow doing the Ronaldo Roll, it was like a war zone...

did mine tonight with headphones / music player on me phone. listening to some good tunes is  better than listening to me heart beating out me chest  :D  :D  :D

Can't get the ear phones to stay in my ears when I'm sat at my desk never mind running, might try a wooly hat to hold them in place.

How do you keep time of your intervals Jeff?

I'd love to jog up the beach with the dog but theres two problems, I haven't got a dog and the nearest beach is over 60 miles away.

andy, westfield hat sorts out the earphones  :t-up:

I use the stop watch on my phone for the time intervals on lap timer mode , just stop it at 2mins then at min, handy as it counts for you too , (in case I do to many      )    :D
