Bean Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Not been running since Tuesday, played badminton Wednesday night and squash Thursday lunchtime. Got plastered over the weekend, couldn't manage much Going for a run tonight. Weight, err... well is hasn't gone up or down Quote
Asterix Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 I've got to join you guys doing this, but I keep finding excuses to fake out. In the last couple of weeks, my running shoes have done more miles between the cupboard under the stairs and the front door and back again than anything outside. Good news is I've played badminton both last and the previous saturday. Bad news is, - I carry on drinking like a fish every evening and going to bed too late (so, apart from the obvious health damaging aspects, getting up for the early morning run is made more difficult). - My chest seems to be going slowly south and this is starting to cause me regular backache (no matter how much I "suck in") - I seem unable to avoid the cheese sandwiches at lunchtime and the inevitable snacking which follows the inevitable drinking - still 13st 2lb (should be 11st) Once I start, I'm sure I'll be fine, just got to start. If anyone else is thinking "get a grip", you're not alone . Can someone kick my A*** please so I can get up at 0600 tomorrow and start putting this particular demon to bed? Of course, the downside is, if I do start, you'll get verbal diarrhoea updates every other day like this one. Quote
a4gom Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Well I'm back from another jog, just measured distance on map (pucka os map on AutoCAD no GB atlas) and I was quite surprised. My run is about 4400m i recon thats about 2.75 miles in old money, it takes me about 25mins so I think thats about 6.5 mph or 10.5kph. Is that a spirited walk, jog or run?? Edited to add a message to myself to have stern words with kids when I get home, quite happily jogging along listening to Bon Jovi when all of a sudden Leona Lewis sticks her nose in. Someones been messin with ma phone again. Quote
JeffC Posted January 28, 2008 Author Posted January 28, 2008 Andy thats fantastic from where im sitting, you are so far ahead of me , Ive just come back from an hour at the gym and after doing a 45 min work out I got on the treadmill and managed to do 5 sets of 1min at 10km/h runs and 5 x 6km/h walks on 0 gradient, Im not sure doing the tread mill first how much beter Id be. you are obviously a lot healthier than me [envymode/] I cant get my head round the running thing as when I go on the rotax machine Im doing 10 mins on a really high setting and although sweating buckets I manage it, same with the bike and rowing machine, but come to the run and im f****d Quote
Bean Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 I hate using gyms, find them extremely dull and demotivating. I do belong to my local leisure centre (an army one) but only use their squash courts and 50metre swimming pool. I need to mix it up (exercise) or get bored very quickly Quote
Lurksalot Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 This might seem a bit daft at this stage but for those that want to lose a bit of weight ( aswell as gain fitness) how about a WSCC sponsored slimathon Those that want or need to lose weight can join a list, publish a start weight and a finish date If members sponsored cumulative weight losss per kilo it might add up Also might provide akick for those that need it ? Bean Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Just got back from my local running route, 2.75 miles door to door. Feeling great Going to change up to the longer route soon, round the next loop which means about 5 miles in total. Running was b****y hard work to get back into, only now am I starting to enjoy it again. Quote
Lurksalot Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 only if i can turn the clock back to 3 years ago when I was 15 1/2 clem Oh dear, I think I am that 15 1/2 lump of lard ......and slowly getting bigger Quote
Bean Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 It's fookin cold outside, just going out for a run! Quote
Asterix Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 No exercise today, but I have avoided my daily stilton and mayonnaise thick bread sandwich and replaced it with a seafood salad. Small victories, small victories... Quote
Bean Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Well, it took me a mile to warm up but I managed my usual 3 mile route without stopping or dying Quote
cidersurfer Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 14st 1lb for me now, still not running waiting for calf to heal, but really looking forward to breaking the 14stone barrier! Keep going lads! Quote
Asterix Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 stopped eating thick bread stilton and mayonnaise sandwiches, am on the salads at lunchtime now (pasta yesterday, greek today). Shed a pound yesterday, down to 13st 1lb. Wondering what tomorrow am will bring. Happier now I'm "getting a grip". Once the pox has left our house, I'll be out for the runs*. *Someone pass the toilet roll Quote
