Mark,

If you take the beds back to the factory they'll certify the build quality for you.      :p  :p  :D  :D

Absolutely but it should also be painfully clear from recent issues on another similar forum that these sorts of heavyhanded responses can spiral oput of control to nobodies benefit and a more level headed approach will extract a far better result for all involved.

Heavy handed? Yes. And I will make no apology for it. WSCC officials have been potentially accused of using their positions to make financial gain. How would you feel? A public accusation requires a public response. The seriousness of the accusation required a serious response. Mat has it spot on with his comment regarding free speech and self moderation. Because I believe in free speech I have left the posts here and elsewhere unmoderated, but there are limits. Unfounded accusations, real or implied, crosses the line by quite some margin. I will defend the honour and integrity my colleagues in the WSCC Committee robustly because I know they are honest and decent people, and I will have strong words with anyone who doubts that.

I see that you have done an excellent job of keeping your role here separate from your role as an owner. You are to be commended for going above and beyond, and I offer my apologies for indirectly impunging your integrity or that of any other WSCC officer.

Apology accepted. Do I have your assurance that you will think more carefully before making further accusations that are based entirely on supposition? If so, we will consider the matter closed.

My previous request that you refrain from discussing your chassis issues still stands. Please let Mr Turner and the Factory investigate without further intervention. Once the investigation is complete, you are of course free to comment further as you see fit, as is Mr Turner.

LOL fantastic I leave work go out for a bike ride and when I get back its carnage  :D

Scott I was probably a bit over critical with my description of factory built cars.. There is nothing wrong with factory built cars. Just a few things are done Blue Peter Fasion for Speed :D I just think that there are customer built cars around that are better. I resented (probably a bit strong) people insinuating that factory cars were in some way superior to all customer built cars.

As for the certification scheme can't see any advantage to me or most people at all. I know that ther is no point in worrying about residuals in my car as I have turned it into somthing that would not apeal to most people. I know I will never get the money I have poured into it back.

Julian can I make a sugestion that before you anounce things, they are thought through and you can explain the impact they will have on your customers.

Cheers

Bazzer

PS Still think if you cant spot a decent Westie yourself then you should buy an Impreza  :D  :D  :D  :p

Just might just get that discount after all Mat, keeping on the good side of the right people.  :D

Only joking by the way before I get banned from posting.  :p  It never even crossed my mind that the volunteers would get special treatment (although I wouldn't argue against it if they did).

So are AO going to get their Westfield World's the same time as everyone else now?  :D  :p

I'll get my coat!

I think what is clear from all this is that the WSSC discount with the factory - official or not is GONE.

Who says there won't be a discount?

Try re-reading Julians original posting, just the words this time, not the bits between the lines.

Getting a car certified by the factory......

How can you imagine Westfields want to de-value your car?   Why on earth would they want you to lose any insurance claims?

Are you guys for real?   There is no discount at present, because it has to be done fairly.   Watch this space for developments.

I can't believe how cynical some of you are here.   The new owners have hardly had time to get their feet under the table, and from my contact with them, I hear some very positive things.   Anyone who knows me will know about my reaction to the previous owners, so I'm not just seeing this through rose tinted glasses.

As for the club maintaining it's independence from the factory, don't you recall what the relationship used to be like?   Remember the attempt at forming a new owners club by the Smiths?

I'm not talking as a representative of the factory, I am talkinmg as an owner, who happens to be more involved with the club than some of you here.   I've sat in on meetings, and I've put my views across.

The fact that someone is prepared to invest money in the factory, and hopefully, turn it into a bigger, better product is such a terrible thing is it?

You can do what you like with your cars.   You can steadfastly refuse to have it certified, and you can buy your parts wherever you choose.

One last thing.   Before opening mouth, engage brain.   There was a clear declaration from Julian that a car can be certifed - even if it has non-Westfield manufactured/supplied components.   I think you're missing the point here.   Certification will mean it comes up to a good standard of build quality, and that it therefore might be a good car to buy.   How can helping potential buyers choose your car over another be such a bad thing?

Sorry Andy, not all those comments are aimed at you.   But the discount has not been removed, cuz so far, there has been no official discount.
