adhawkins Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Just got back home, had a top time. Was a bit lonely sitting virtually by ourselves waiting for people to get back from the run, but as people started to filter back the atmosphere soon picked up. The guys from Track Developments seemed to be kept busy, and Tony made his way around with the noise meter checking people's cars. Great day, and for the first time we weren't let down by the weather. Turnout was (I think) a bit lower than expected, but I hope a good day was had by all. Hope Dean got home Ok after finding his diff bracket problem. Roll on next year! Andy Quote
emma.1 Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 Yes thanks Andy...........got home ok, took a steady run back on the M5. Car is now safely tucked up in the garage awaiting some TLC & repair! Quote

adhawkins Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 Just a reminder, if anyone has any photos that they can't host themselves (or indeed to get them all in one place for easier viewing) I'd be happy to host them all. Drop me a PM to discuss getting them to me. Andy Quote
Thrustyjust Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 I drove past the Highwayman at 6:30am today and no movement and then again at 10:30am and still no movement, must have been a good night. Quote
adhawkins Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 Sounds about right. At 6:30 they may well have been still in the bar Wonder how Tony got on with the ghosts? First of the photos now online here. Hopefully more to follow as people send them to me. Andy Quote
ljsanders Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 Thanks for the great day out!! After setting out at 7:30am on Saturday, 320 miles later I finally got home at 1am this morning, I'm absolutely knackered!! Some more pictures here Quote
deano.1 Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 Thanks for a good day out! I really like this event but unfortunatley have never had much luck with it ie Last year both the children got chicken pox so i couldn't camp over but managed to get down for a couple of hours This year we couldn't get a babysitter so decided to come down for the day, managed to get a speeding ticket on the way which looks likely to cost me 6 points and managed to break my diff mounts away from the chassis It's a great event though and with any luck i'll manage the whole event next year with no problems Thanks for the bits that i did enjoy Quote
Steve R Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Just wanted to say thanks for a great weekend. Cheers Tony for organising a very enjoyable gathering. It was my first MTN and I'll definitely be back next year. Here are a few pictures... And finally, conclusive proof that you CAN get a good night's sleep in your Westie!.... Don't know how you did it Malc, especially as you were sober!! Steve. Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Altho' myself and Barry Ashcrofts visit was a short one we enjoyed it and it gave us a chance to have a nice cool drink after standing most of the day looking up at aircraft @ the Fairford Air Tattoo. It was nice to see Julie & Dave Harrop,ACW,Gem and their lastest addition,Mr & Mrs Duck,Tony Slightes and Mark Purves. It looks a great venue and I do my best to get down in the westfield next year Buzz Quote

Tony Sighe Posted July 17, 2006 Author Posted July 17, 2006 Hi all, Yes I think it was a success !! Thanks to all those that came along and supported the event (& where were you? to those that promised and didn't turn up etc). The morning tour of the Cotswolds went fairly well with only one minor problem. Phil broke down with his 'Mega-mega Busa' (220bhp) and may well have missed his afternoon flight to his hols? He only popped down to give us his support! The sun shone all day (after a grey start) and stayed dry and clear through the night (Malc could have kipped under the stars!). Great turnout for the BBQ & a show of over 50 westies through the day - not bad but I'm sure we could do better next year. I'll make sure it doesn't clash with the airshow! Perhaps a thread on the boardroom to debate a suitable date nearer the time? Ah yes - Andy's comments about the ghosties? It's a very old coaching inn and I was locked in on my own! Apparently their are very many different 'characters' haunting the place. I tried not to get too hung up as I walked through the twisty, creaky dark corridors on my trips to the loo during the night!! The land lady asked me in the morning if I'd seen or heard anything? No - thanks to a late night in the bar & a bit of master mixing, the only spirits I encountered were the ones that helped me get to sleep quicky! I said that the cleaners woke me up around 7am with all their banging about and loud chatting. I got up to the loo (again) and could hear them quite clearly down the corridor and in the bar below me. Turns out nobody was in the pub before 8am, and no cleaners come in on a Sunday! The landlady came in on her own to open the door etc............ So either she was winding me up or the ghosts there are not afraid of the daylight? I think I'll be camping next year! Malcom - your route was excellent! Gavin - was great to know that we were insured and 'approved' by the MSA & Police etc. Thank you both from me and all those attending. So what can we do differently next year? Regards Tony Quote

Don't know how you did it Malc, especially as you were sober!! Glad you enjoyed it Steve. I can sleep anywhere, might have been able to stretch out more if the passenger seat wasn't in there though. I was sober but I was the only one that would try that bitter mixer stuff neat out of the bottle, didn't relize it was alcoholic though 44.7%. Gold Label Anyone? Managed to get the broken stud out of my engine block for clutch too, so I should still be OK for Mallory. Thanks for the offer of help Steve, might have needed it but my right angled drill managed to squeeze into the space and borrowed a stud extractor off a friend up the road. Quite an eventful weekend in all Malc. Quote
