scott beeland Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 Mucho spannering from me and Gromit today and the XE finally dropped into place.......Then we discovered there was no clutch function so it's all been dragged out again and it's back on the garage floor Supposed uprated helix version of std cover plate. Except when the bolts are tightened on the clutch assy the fingers dissapear inside the cover therefore rendering the clutch non operable. Added to phils van troubles; a mad search for a short oil filter for the xe and a puncture in the Xantia tyre we've had what you might refer to as a sh*t day and I'm giving serious consideration to breaking the car Quote

brianm Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 Don't know Pete, Still got water oil mix, got mayo only slightly in water, and mayo, ish in catch tank. Used about a gallon of fairy to shift the residue. f*****n sick of orderin Vauxhall head gaskets. Plus a rattle at about 4K on hard accel. Plus a rattle on start up, sounds like tappets, but wasn't there 100 miles ago. Goes when hot but comes back on cold start. Comps are still 200+ all round hot or cold. tomorrow will see the old head back on. Rapidly losin the will, Bri. Quote

neilwillis Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 I'm saying nothing about Zetecs here, Scott would probably blow a gasket. I hope you get it sorted soon mate. Go crack open an Easter egg, and go back to it tomorrow, it'll all seem much less of a problem when you've slept on it. Quote
perksy Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 it'll all seem much less of a problem when you've slept on it. Agree, sometimes it pays to have a break from it and then you'll come back and look at it in a different way. Too much work gone into it now Scott, It'll fly when it's all working Quote
