Blatman Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 The Westfield 2000S probably falls somewhere between an R400 and R500 spec CSR, or close to an "old" R500. R500's were, IIRC, 38 grand new. Haven't seen one for sale fro a while, but the last one I did see (a while ago admittedly) was around the 25 grand mark and was < 2 years old... I'll hit the Blatchat search engine... As if by magic... http://213-04.com/T.asp?id=97429 Close on 40% depreciation in total, roughly 20% since he bought it (as the 3rd owner...), and he's knocking off 5% from the agreed price from just a few months ago. Or http://213-04.com/T.asp?id=92497 Looks like a 40 grand + car that had an expensive (probably well in excess of 5K) upgrade. No idea what it went for, but apaprently not even a sniff as 29 grand, so it was open to offers. So we can safely assume 30% depreciation in two years which actually isn't bad, but we can also speculate that it may well not have gone for 29K, but probably a bit less, which again demonstrates the voracity of my theory. Another one... http://213-04.com/T.asp?id=86303 A 40 grand car ('cos it has weather gear/screen etc etc, which would have been cost options...) with money spent on refreshes as required, and it apparently wasn't selling at half price... So, in 5 years, could you sell a 2000S for something approaching 14K. Maybe, maybe not 'cos we have to consider inflation and what a new one will cost then. If you built it yourself from a kit though, it could be done for 20K, and I think you really should be able to realise 10K from a 5 year old, 250bhp 2000S. 17 minutes... Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 demonstrates the voracity of my theory. A particularly peckish theory? Or just one of those "spelling check" moments. [/pedant] Sorry, coat & taxi please Quote
Blatman Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Yeah, spell check/proof read moment. I really should be working... Have cogency instead... Quote
Martin Keene Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 17 minutes... So your searching kinda prove what I was saying as well then. It beats me why people compare Caterham and Westfield used values when the starting point for both is soo different. Quote
