I have tried the GTL download , it runs very slowly on my PC  I think the graphics card isn't up to the task

From what I can see It seems to be nothing more than a dressed up arcade game , PS2 stuff ? the sound is good though

It's a bit better than that. Not quite up to GPL standards but none the less still tricky to master when you get into it. I agree that there is a certain amount of arcade style thinking behind it as you have to win some of the cars before you can drive them and the rest you have to buy with credits that you earn from winning challenges. But the car physics is still quite good.

PS. I'm having real difficulty at the moment getting a MK1 Escort round Imola without it pointing in the Wrong Direction. :bangshead:

Try the V1.1 patch and/or the latest drivers for your Graphics card.  :t-up:

LOTS of people complained about that fact. How can they do a "sim" and make you work for the cars.

So, before very long a few cheats appeared. One gives you as much money as you like and another gives you all the cars+tracks including the locked ones.

Feels a million miles away from an arcade game to me i must admit.

It is different to GPL because the cars are totaly different, but it feels pretty damn sim like from where i am sitting :D

Did you have all the driving aids off?

I use the F keys to make sure they are turned off and that leads to power sliding and lockups galore!

GTR is another superb game but again, nothing like GPL because the cars are totaly different.

In the early days of online races with clan mates the competition was fierce with often just tenths of seconds between 1st to 6th place.

The little lotus cars were my fave for online races as some of the faster motors are such a handfull with the driving aids removed.

GTR is also made by Simbin before they made GTL so will undoubtedly have a similar feel.

I dont agree that its arcadey either though, sounds like you're trying to convince yourself its crap so you don't have to upgrade your graphics card :D

Seriously though, it (like most modern games) need fairly pokey graphics, something like an ATI Radeon 9500 with 128Mb or similar Nvidia would be a minimum Id think, it certainly didnt run too well on an old GeForce4 64Mb card I had. I ran the demo on a 9500 Pro and it was OK but still couldnt have all the details / AA on at 1024x768. Im just installing the full version now after rebuilding my PC and it will be running on an Nvidia 6600GT which I bought just before Xmas, so hopefully should be able to run most of the details now.
