I've got grandprix legends the original, but since i changed my computer from 98 to xp it refuses to work :(, if any of you know why that is it would be awesome to get that game to work again because it truely was amazing!!!:)

Luke, try applying the latest patch from here, mine didnt work at all on XP either until I put that on. Also this link is worth a look for all the other updates

You can set up XP to run programs as it would in windows 98 if needed - compatability mode

Try this faq page written by Bob Simpson , a GPL God

When papyrus first launched GPL it was years ahead of its time , I bought a copy but like most people I didnt have a powerful enough PC to run the game .

Add to that the fact that you have to  "learn" how to drive the cars , not easy at first

esp. if you turn the driver aids OFF (essential to get up to speed )

So it sat in the box for a year untill I got a decent PC and I found this site which inspired me to try again

This is where it all started for me ...

what a woman

Since then I am happy to say I have wasted hours upon hours with this amazing simm .

I downloaded the gpl 2004 demo and insalled it in my gpl folder.

Works fine on XP and looks better than the original.

I've been playing the the GT legends demo since hearing about it on this thread. Its kinda hard to master, but I'm loving it.

Santa is getting me the full game and a new force-feedback steering wheel for Christmas though now!  :p  :D

Have you managed a lap of "the glenn" yet

without spinning !

What's your PB  ?

I dont have GTL , thinking of buying but not sure if its a waste of me dosh as GPL ticks all me boxes  :t-up:

AND

its absolutely FREE

also

has a great online community

You should persist and try GPL .It isnt easy at first because unlike arcade racers you cant drive fast straight off.

You really have to get the senses adjusted to control the cars.

worth the effort because once you have mastered it there isnt a race simm to come anywhere near for realism .

Then join in online

either, join a league , or can do "pick up" races through VROC

(Virtual Racers Online Connection)

The leagues are great fun, lots have groups for beginers or "newbies" And you get to know and race with people from all over the world

The 2004 demo has 2 readme files packed with it which include everything you need to know about !
