Bulk Buy Alloyhubs and Calipers

Do you have any specific knowledge that the materials used for the hubs in this bulk buy is inferior, or the machining techniques are inferior as to make the hubs dangerous in use? This is a serious implication you are making, and we need to be absolutely clear on this matter.

I didn't see any mention in Bruce's post that there might be a safety issue. I see no harm in him suggesting that not all hubs are the same and their might be a perceived advantage to some ;)

Whether people want to take notice of that or are happy that the cheaper option is going to be up to the job is up to them.

On the subject of princess vs M16 I understand why princess calipers are used (because they are a cheap way to get 4 pots) but I don't really see why someone would spend good money on a alloy version when they can get an M16 copy for almost the same money. (which then fits without any concern over safety)

edit: must type faster, looks like Bruce is quite capable of defending his own post  :p

If its the hubs in the photo then I would think they are going to be light enough from what I can see.

But thanks Bruce for the extra info about the Raceleader hubs.

Thanks Bruce,

Dont mind Blatman.

I think bruces point and it's a good one to check is that if the pads overhang the disk then eventually the two pads contact each other outside of the diameter of the disk. Push as hard as you like and all you get is no breaks or the whole lot binding up solid as the piston wedges in the bore.

I drove a midet with the wrong pads in where this had happened and it had absolutely no front breaks whatsoever, this togther with the rear drums which where the only breaks made for and intresting drive.

For the avoidance of doubt. I edited bruces post to remove any specific manufacturer.

Seems misunderstanding is a two way street. I'll phrase more carefully in future.

On reflection, it was a pretty poorly constructed post, and did not adequately convey what was in my mind at the time.

I apologise unreservedly to Bruce and ACW for not watching my mouth, and for any inconvenience caused.

for a company that supplies Lotus and Ralliart,I believe in the products I am offering to other club members. If there was a safety issue, then he wouldn't be trading to such a high level of clientele.I have no issues with buying Raceleda,I will be buying the discs. But as most people have already got hubs on their cars, won't need dustcaps. The hubs each become with anodising £45 each. That allows £30 for a bearing and studs. The studs are 50p each and I have another club member, who has offered me and when I get round to mailing the other members who want the race bearings at cost of £5 each.Added up is £52 a hub,a large saving to members as opposed to £75 plus vat which is about £88.If you can offer the same as a Speed series sponsor, then I'll buy from you with the discs!!!!This isn't a rant, just want to straighten things out from my side. It's a sod doing bulk orders and my life could be easier if people didn't have huge mark ups on goods and people have to weedle out a genuine good deal.I'd love to get mine tommorrow at the price but I had to get at least 10 pairs of hubs to get that price.

Thanks very much for organising this bulk buy Justin.

Can you confirm the hubs we're getting are the CMB0301 type pictured in the post above by Matt Seabrook.

Having looked at the Raceleda products in the past I think they are superbly engineered and made but the prices seem a bit steep to me - how about a deal for WSCC members Bruce?

Richard.

1/Kitcar workshop will supply hubs with bearings and studs for £86 each plus postage.

2/Burtons want £80 each for just the hub and £10 postage

3/ Raceleda want £75 each plus 'VAT' and postage

4/Rally Design want £147.47 a pair of hubs inc vat and post

surely you need to quote like for like (with VAT, with postage, Without etc). The thing is, they are almost certainly made by different manufacturers and probably be of a slightly different design / spec, so why on earth should they cost the same?

If you can't be bothered to do your own research and make your own judgement, then you have to accept whatever "deal" you go for

IMHO :p  :p

p.s I went for Rally Design and Wilwood (hubs, callipers and discs) and I'm more than pleased with what I got and what they cost - are they the best?, are they the cheapest? - couldn't give a sh*t now as they're on and fitted :)

OB,as quoted above These hubs are £52 each. And I don't have an open wallet like some people.Sometimes I wonder what the f**k.I might as well keep it to myself.

Rally Design - £58.50 plus vat and postage - yes it's more, yes it's different - so what?? I've just paid £25 for something advertised by a member that I now find is freely available £5 cheaper - everyone has to make a living I guess or are we all reaching the Tesco / Asda culture where the lowest cost is all that counts!!
