Darrell O'Neill Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 What sort of weight saving is there between these and standard ones then? Quote
Glen H Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 What sort of weight saving is there between these and standard ones then? Westfield hub C/W 4 x studs and bearing weighs 1.597kg, sorry don't know the weight of the cortina unit, anyone know Quote
Eccentric_Rich Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 I'll have a pair of hubs anodised in black please. Thanks very much for organising this bulk buy. Richard. Quote
a4gom Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 This may seem a 'tim nice but dim' TNBD question but if I don't ask... I currently have all standard bits on the front of my SEi, if I buy a set of hubs with bolts and a set of calipers would I be correct in thinking that the only thing I would need would be the bearings and some vented disks? Will it be a simple swap like for like? Will the existing master cylinder cope and will my aeroquip screw straight in. Anyone know? Blatters did you find out about the calipers and solid disks? What would be the weight saving in changing the full caboodle Quote
Blatman Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 IMO, when you go to 4 pots, you need to change to the AP cylinder. You *might* need new ends on the aeroquips, depending on how you route the lines at the moment. If you buy the hubs complete with studs, then all you need to add are bearings. And no, I haven't found out about the discs. I'm rather hoping Thrusty posts the answer here so that we can all see what's what Westfield hub C/W 4 x studs and bearing weighs 1.597kg, sorry don't know the weight of the cortina unit, anyone know According to the Fluke Motrsport Weight Database standard Cortina iron hubs weigh 3Kg's... colnagowetdream Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Put me down for a set of hubs, anodised black and studs please. Will prob order calipers as well once known if suitable for 13's and unvented discs Quote
Blatman Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 **Update** Thanks Thrusty... The calipers will fit under 13" rims, have internal fluid pathways, and will fit over normal non vented discs. Ticks all the boxes for me There is also an offer of *good* wheel bearings for the ally hubs, coming in at 18 quid a set (2 sets required). These are supposed to be much better quality that standard bearings, but I'm sure Thrusty will be along later to confirm. Quote
adhawkins Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 What pads do the calipers take? Are they a standard pad, so you could get Mintex / Greenstuff / whatever to fit? Andy Quote
Thrustyjust Posted November 4, 2005 Author Posted November 4, 2005 Sorry about the fact I can't WSCC at work.Have been following and mailed Blatters to give you info as I find out.The wheel bearings can be bought either cheapy ones at about £7 or the top quality, which will be fit and forget. The reasons for changing my hubs is that for one the bearings are knacked after 13k miles. The quality ones are quite pricey but will be sold at trade to us too.The guy is trying to get a goodwill foot in the door,so a good reason to take up the offers he giving.(can't explain anymore!! I am in no rush for the purchase of the items and if we get a good order in,will be worth the wait.We are 2 pairs of hubs short of the magic 10 at the moment and I'm sure that if we don't make the 5 pairs of calipers,I can sort it out. There maybe a chance of getting the M16 calipers cheaper if there are people interested, just I have some, but am willing to ask for that too.Tell me anything brakewise people need. Thrustyjust Posted November 4, 2005 Author Posted November 4, 2005 Just had a PM for another set of hubs,so nearly there.Come on,get the other half to get them for you for Chrimble!!! Quote
